Harnesses for Smaller Yorkies
 
I've got one from Pet Pavilion on the King's road but it doesn't really fit Badger. It's too flexible if that makes sense. It goes over the neck and then there's a t-bar underneath and then a bit that goes over the tummy but it's too loose and the buckle along with the lead clasp keep falling to one side and messing up the whole balance. It interferes with his legs. The people at the store said it was for smaller dogs but he's only about two and a half pounds now and it just looks really uncomfortable on him. I've got him on the collar and lead but I'm really not happy with that either

Can anyone suggest something I can buy online or maybe here in the UK that's suitable for smaller dogs?

you might want to try a harness vest. i think there are similar threads about this that could give you some really good info and suggestions! I hope you find the right one, let us know what you pick!

Those harnesses are adorable! :thumbup: Scooter definitely needs a blue one.

Also, have you tried a cat harness? We used to use a cat one for Yoda until he grew up a bit, it worked great for us!

Oh they're gorgeous. Do you do different sizes? How would I know which one to get him? Would you be okay shipping to the UK? Obviously I'd pay whatever. What type of fabric is that? Is that okay for summer?

Of course I can ship to the UK, and will let you decide on what type of service. All fabrics are made of cotton with a very lightweight black fleece backing. all are secured with a velcro so easy to put on and off. It should be okay for summer!

Here are my standard measurements so let me know which one:

Tiny 1 = up to 2 lbs and chest size is 10-11 inches
Tiny 2 = up to 4 lbs and chest size is 11-12 inches
Tiny 3 = up to 6 lbs and chest size is 12 - 14 inches
Tiny 4 = up to 8 lbs and chest size is 14 - 16 inches

All my vests come standard with a "paw charm" unless you specify "yorkie charm". They are all made of sterling silver.

that is the one I got for shelby when she was barely 2lbs. still works at 3.7lbs. (it is for dogs under 10lbs)

Thanks Shelbysmom. I think I'm going to go with the ones from Tiger's Mom... I just can't decide on a colour! I really like the orange and the green one...

One question... Badger is about 2 and half pounds but there's no way his chest is about eleven inches. I think it's much smaller. Will the velcro straps adjust? Should I get the four pound and up one? He's four months on Saturday so I'm expecting him to get a bit bigger

Well actually, although it does say up to 2 pounds, some yorkies have slimmer chest than others, and perhaps that is the case with you baby. The velcro is definitely adjustable from 10 - 11 inches (and a bit more). Just to give you an idea, Tiger was wearing a Teeny 2 (which is supposedly up to 4 pounds) but he has a slim torso and still fit snugly on the Teeny 2 but he is 5.5 pounds and 6 months :D . I suggest you measure you baby's chest and if he is under 10 inches, go with the Teeny 1 as there is plenty of room to adjust later on to an 11. Of course, I leave the decision up to you :rolleyes:

Right. His chest is ten inches more or less and he's two and a half pounds (we think he'll be about four pounds full grown but he's really slowed down with his growth). What do you think? Get one in a teeny 1 for now and then two more to keep back until he's bigger? Just to be sure, there's an orange one, a green one and a blue one right?

oopsss . .forgot, I also have a light yellow fabric with little black bumble bees . . so cute and a light blue one that has the same pattern as the lime green!

Done! I will have a teeny 1 in the orange and a teeny 2 in the bumble bees!! Yayness!!! Can you pm me all the details and we'll sort that out tonight
