:wavey: Has anyone ever purchased the wizdog pad system? Is it any good. My dogs go on the whee whee pad but they sometimes miss. I am getting tired of cleaning up all the time. I think whee whee pad training isnt that great. They dont learn to hold it in. :yelrotflm Any feed back on this would be greatly appreciated. Elaine

I haven't heard of this product. I have the ORIGINAL wizdog....he wiz's where ever he feels like it.

I haven't heard of it either, but would love any info you find out. Cappi has gotten very good at going pee on the potty pad, but she poops wherever she wants!! My husband says this does not count as POTTY training and won't let me get another dog until she is completely potty trained!!!

I bought it and it was a waste of money for me.


Not only were my dogs scared of the darn thing, but the top that lets the pee go through was so uncomfortable for them, they hated it.

And it ended up throwing off them off on where to go to the bathroom.

It wasn't worth it to me, but other's might have a different opinion.

That is too funny. I used to have a scottish terrier that would wiz on the leg of the coffee table. My mom use to get soooo mad at him, i would laugh at her and just snuggle him up because she would yell at him. She would keep them in the den during the day with a gate against the stairs because the floor in the den was tile and she could clean it up easier. He was definately an Alpha male who had to let everyone know that was his territory.

IS Your husband potty trained, lol. Does he lift the lid and hit the bowl? lol Does he put the lid back down when hes done, lol. I am just picking but couldn't resist!!

:thumbup: This is the greatest thing ever. I just have to share it with you guys. I came up with this brain storm and it works. I should have it patented. :rolleyes: Ok, you guys can't rat me out though. lol Anyway, I took a bread crate from a store, put cardboard on the bottom because of Buddies paws and then put the whee whee pad on top. He steps in there to do his business but because you have to step in and out of it, he doesn't get any mess on the floor. It works for me. Sometimes, Buddie would be facing the whee whee pad and go potty thinking he is on the pad so now........ problem solved. Hey, give it a try. You have nothing to lose. :D If anyone gives it a shot..let me know how it worked out for you. You might have to show you dog a couple of times before they catch on. Just put him on the device a couple of times. Good luck. Saves me from constantly cleaning the floor. Hope it works for you guys.

I bought the Wiz Dog. I have it stationed at the back door but have yet to get my puppy. I had a 12 pound Yorkie before and he was outdoor trained...however...I'm getting a regular size yorkie this time and let me tell you...the winters here are cold. Very cold. I also don't like what I am hearing from my neighbors. Lot's of coyotes and foxes running around. I don't like the idea of him being outside at night in the pitch black (our light doesn't work).
anyways, my theory...and I am not an expert dog trainer:
#1 I want my dog trained with the command "go pee" because I travel and if I have to bring a pad with me, this would make my life easier.
#2 my breeder did tell me that her dogs are pad trained and are excellant. She can even take them to a hotel and they go on the pad and not on the carpet. I even saw my 8 week old puppy trying to go on the pad when I visited her house.
#3 I'm still not convinced they can tell between pad and carpet (even though the breeder told me they can) so I wanted something that felt different then carpet. I looked at different ones and decided on the Wiz dog because it hard and different from carpet. If he has an accident on hard floor...a lot easier to clean up.
My plan? I have enclosed an area in the kitchen which includeds the back door that will be his usuall "go outside" door. At first, I will train him on the wiz dog and work on the command "go pee". I will then pick up the wiz when we are home and train him to "ask" to go outside. I'm only going to use the wiz dog when we are not at home and only by the back door that he goes out.
As far as learning how to hold it, he will be crate trained at night. If he has to go, I will know it because he will be in my room. I feel this will help the "hold it".
I do not plan on taking the Wiz dog with me to friends houses and traveling so he will ahve to learn to hold it then too. I think it will be great for those once in a while daily excursions when I may be away longer then I wanted to or if my mother has to watch him when I am away...she doesn't have to worry about rushing home at a certain time, but can try to get home for lunch whenever she has a break.
I don't see how he can get it confused if it is right by the door and that is the only place.

never used wiz dog, just wee pads, but i also have a tray that the pad goes into and closes, there is a plastic bottom to it so no pee on the floor. lexi
does just fine... and you wanna know what else. now im putting newspaper
inside it to save some money, and she goes on the paper.. ha

What kind of tray is it? I know my yorkies kinda move while going so they can start off going on the pad but end up finishing on the floor and so, I am constantly cleaning. I bought a bread crate, lined it with carboard so there paws dont go through. I put a pad on top. Will see how that works. They have to step into it so I am figuring that while they are doing there business, they wont step out of the bread crate while going. :confused: I'll let you know how that one goes. Your tray working out ok?

just a plastic tray that the pad fits in and closes . look like a large frame
and you put a picture in... but instead you put the pad in it.. they step
into it, do their business and step out.. its called a wee pad holder...let me tell you, its great...

I have never heard of WizDog. I use piddle pads for both of my boys and I think they are wonderful. I take them when I travel or go visiting relatives and the boys use them. I also use belly bands to prevent accidents depending on where and who I'm visiting. Neigher of my boys like
wearing belly bands, so they are happy to potty on piddle pads. NOW, sometimes the baby (1yr 4months) will have an accident and most of the time it's my fault for not watching him and reminding him to potty on his piddle pad. I love the idea of the bread tray!! Wonder where I can get one of those???? Hmmmmmm I can't wait to try that! GOOD LUCK! If I find a bread tray I will let ya know how the "bread tray" training goes. :D

What are you saying???? A 12 pound yorkie isn't the reguar size? Please don't tell Tucker, he's pretty proud of him self for getting to 10 pounds and I see more in his future. Just more to love, that's what he is!

I wasn't trying to insult anyone. I loved my dog with all of me. I was saying that I was surprised at how small and more delicate this new one looks compared to my muscular (and not a bit a fat on him) 12-15 lb yorkie. I think I'm being overprotective, but the 12lb one just seemed so much stronger that he could take bad weather...however...I felt so bad when he had to endure storms too. 5lbs versus 12lbs...looks different to me but that doesn't make anyone more cuter or more important than the other.

P.S. the yorkie standard by the AKC lists 4-7lbs as the standard so that was what I meant by regular. If I didn't travel so much, I'd love another 12lb yorkie.

Let me tell you how wonderful my bread crate invention is. Both my Yorkies go in it and I finally don't have to constantly clean up from them walking off the whee whee pad. You can probably get a bread crate behind 7-eleven, Waldbaums or any food store. Did I say that. :eek: In time, I might even start using newspaper to save some money. I pay 40.00 for 100 pads at my local pet store. Anyone purchase them online?

I buy a box of 100 for about $22.99. I say about because the price finally went up recently and I think it was $1.00 increase. The funny thing is that in the store, the same box is $32.99. So I wait for Petsmart to have the NO SHIPPING specials and I get 2 boxes for my house and 2 boxes for a friend (to make the minimum necessary for free shipping). The first couple of times there were several pads in the boxes that were less than perfect and I thought, 'hmmmm, that's why they're $10.00 cheaper than in the store'. But the last 4 boxes have been fine and I noticed that just about everything is a bit cheaper at Petsmart, ONLINE, than in the store. But again, you need a minimum order of about $75.00 for the free shipping. Hope this helps.

Hey I get the case of 100 wee wee pads from Jefferspets.com and it's only $23.99 and they don't charge a packing charge for that size order. I was going to get a 200 pad case from petedge.com but seeing as my order was under $70 they wanted to charge me $6.95 to process the order...jeeze.

Jeffers always has that price and the pads are not defective in any way. I just ordered two cases last night.

A friend of mine on another chat uses the wizdog. She loves it. She did modify it. She has a tiny Yorkie so she got a piece of that no slip that goes under carpets. She got it at Bed Bath and Beyond and it's a softer rubber so she puts that on top of the wizdog. She said before since the puppy was so small he would get stuck in the holes in the wizdog. So now he can go on it and not get stuck and she can easily clean it up. I will see if I can find the picture of the contraption that she made.

I need to figure out something too. Lex will pee on the pad and sometimes off. Pooping is a hit or miss on the dang thing. House breaking so just so much fun...don't you all agree?

have to tell you, that the newspaper inside the wee pad holder is working just great for me... lexi seems to be doing just fantastic...its saves me

bottom of the tray i put a wee pad then newspaper on top to that..
it doesnt even seep through to the wee pad which is great..

My bread crate device that I made is working out beautifull!! Both dogs now use it and I never have any cleaning up to do if they miss the pad because they are not going to step out of the crate while doing there business. I'm tellin you guys, you au't to give it a try. I am going to start using newspaper to save some money also. Thats a great idea. Will let you know how that goes. I love all the wonderful ideas everyone shares here. Its awsome. :thumbup:

Ok I need to figure out something. I find that Lex will go on the wee wee pad and tends to wander his behind around and pick a spot to pee as well. I have been taking him out constantly but somehow he will still sneak off and pee somewhere here and there. I use Nature's Miracle and clean after his accidents and after that I tend to mop the spot as well. Anyone have any suggestions for the clean up. Can it be that the Nature's miracle is not totally getting the cleaning done? You know when we first got him three weeks ago he went always on the pad and might poop off of it here and there. Now that he is settled in he seems to feel comfy to go nuts and do whatever..I am feeling a tad frustrated. Any suggestions?

Ok, I am now trying to get the pic on the site but I am stupit when it comes to transferring picks so.....here goes. Oh, I also wanted to add that I went to the pet store and saw something similar to what I made. I like mine better because it is bigger and as I said...my Yorkies tend to walk as they do there business so mine is perfect for there needs. :animal36 And mine...no more cleaning floors!! :thumbup:

so as it is, we have a pee pads in every room...and we're trying to gate off each room and always be in the same room with her, but she still sneaks off! and she does it so quickly! and of course, if you don't see the spot right then, once it dries you never see it!!

so, i'm wondering...is it better to just have one pee pad down and teach her to always go there for right now?

or would be bring the box to whatever room we are in?

we don't want to outdoor train her because it gets really cold here, but in may my parents will be babysitting for a week, and they are not going to do it if she's not totally PT!!!!

I didnt bring a whee whee pad in each room. What I did is....I confined Buddy to the area in which I will always leave the whee whee pad at. Now, when he runs around, he always goes to the same spot. In the very beginning, I had to have him confined in a really small spot in which he had no choice but to go on the pad....gradually I gave him more room and he still followed the pad to do his business. Now, no problem. Once or twice, I fogot to put a whee whee pad down and he still went in the same spot that I usually put the pad so I think territory also has something to do with it. I think that pads all over the house just makes it confusing to them..talking from experience from mine that is. How about other thoughts on pads all over the house? Good idea or not. Oh, by the way....hows everyone like the bread crate idea? If you double click on the pic, it will show it bigger for a better effect. :yelrotflm :yelrotflm

I would only put down one wee wee pad. Too many and they think it's open season to go potty all over.
