Hair accessories Hello everyone, I have noticed how you guys have such pretty bows in your yorkies' hair. Can I ask are they clip ons or do you have to wrestle with your wee pets to get them on? Poppy's hair is at the stage that she should have one apart from looking lovely but to also take the hair out of her eyes. All i have so far are regular small hair ties (that I can't get near her!!!)and I haven't seen any in the shops over here so if you could advice me then I would really appreciate it. Many Thanks and have a lovely day . |
To start off...try www.petedge.com they have really nice inexpensive bows that you can toss away without feeling bad....then you can move up to nicer bows like Sue (Snow Yorkies) sells...hers are really nice. http://www.magnoliasmagnificentyorkies.com/store.html I would never wrestle a bow into my girls hair....you could try practicing with just a little bit of hair...maybe a scrunchi....if she goes nuts...take it out and try again later. Both my girls LOVE getting their bows in...it just took patience and making it fun for them. When they were babies...every time I did a bow I would clap and make a big deal about how cute they looked...and they learned getting their hair done is a way to get LOTS of kisses |
i got snickers roses from divapup shop but i have seen LOTS on this site that i love - i would check out the links too. good luck and post pics :) |
thank-you very much for your help. I had picked out a lovely box of bow clips at a great price but unfortunately the international shipment fee was incredibly expensive.... :( so we decided to leave it! I will have a look around the shops here but there is definitely not anything as gorgeous as what you guys have!!!! Also thank you for the advice on getting the bows in in the first place. I appreciate your help! |
I agree with Villette. Make hair time fun! And check out petedge for sure!!! you can get little tubs of different colored bows for cheap there! |
2 Attachment(s) I love to use little claw-type clips in chloe's hair so I can simply clip them over her topknot. I also use several small rhinestone barrettes because I just love anthing that sparkles. BUt to answer your question- the little claw type clips are the easiest in my opinion. I am attaching a pic so you can see what I mean. |
thank-you very much..that's very very helpful! :) |

Shana... Shana, in your post you said that you use the little clips over topnots? How do you do the topnots? I've tried and tried to get Ruby to sit still for this stuff, and she's having none of it! The little claw clips are so cute though -- I wonder if I could just clip them in like on human hair or if the topnots are necessary to keep them in. |
Wow..........!!! :D That is so funny I was wondering the same thing. Well my little one doesn't have enough yet to put in a bow because when I tried it just slid right on off her head. :p Her hair is really silky and fine so I don't know if I will ever beable to get one on her. Then again she's only 8 weeks so maybe I have to wait awhile lol. Quote:

If your baby has enough hair you may not even need to make the topnot you can just put the clips right into the hair. My Chloe has thin hair and so I have to make a topknot first. It took some getting used to for her to sit still for me but she does good. |
WooHoo! I just had to share my success. I wrestled with Ruby long enough to get a bow in her hair (even though it's barely long enough to hold it)! It really helped to use a band under the barrett, so thanks so much for that little tidbit! |
Well I am wondering the same thing too about the rubber band part. I too have a hard time putting in a rubber band for Lucy's hair. I tried using these "Goodies Ouchless rubber bands", they are ok but do you know of a different kind of rubberband that does not tangle hair and is easy to use??? I also heard if you do a topnot or rubberband you are suppose to change it everyday??? That just seems like a lot of work....I am really curious since I am growing her hair outnow. Thnks!! |

I had a very hard time using the "ouchless bands" and I really dont like those. I use dog grooming bands and I sell them on my website www.tinkerbellscloset.com Yes, I would change the topknot every day, but you can use the same grooming band as they are very durable. Ive never had one break on me yet. :) |
