Teenie Greenies Has anybody ever bought the teenie greenies? I just found out they actually exist..lol:D I also found them real cheap ($9.95 for 48 greenies) Here is the link if anybody is interested: Teenie Greenies |
I just got back from Petco and bought some. Bailey just loves them! As soon as I opened the package he was all over it :D |
I got some too! I only use them as a treat when grooming and they are great for doggie breath! The local pet store here sells out in just hours every week! So I call ahead to hold them for me... ;) |
I just got some of the teenies, I ordered them from petedge.com. I think I got the same price. It doesn't seem like it, but they are a good amount smaller than the next size up. (I can't remember, but that might have been the small). We had to cut those in half, but with the teenies, I feel like it's ok to give them a whole one without having to cut it. Both of my babies love greenies, I don't know what I'd do without them sometimes!! |
I seem to remember that there was a post about this not too long ago...someone dog was choking on them? I'm not sure. You may want to do a search and see. Maybe I am mistaken. |
Yes i remember that too, but i personally think it is not the greenies. I mean, it can happen to anything, even with food itself...so i recomend only giving anything (food or treats) when the yorkie is under supervision. |
Yeah, I read that post too, but I agree that under supervision they are ok. |
I think the post was about the regular sized Greenies that are shaped like toothbrushes not the tiny ones you all are talking about. We are going to Petsmart today to get Sebastian some :-) |
I bought the small greenies, but stewie won't chew on them. He prefers regular size so he can hold them more easily with his paws. I've seen the teenies in stores and wanted to try them, but I don't think there's a point now since he won't use the small ones. |
Toto and I got a bag of the Teenie Greenies today ... they are perfect for her, she is so small. We had to cut the small ones in half ... these are great and since she is seldom ever out of my sight, she did great with it! Also got the Vitakraft Yogurt Drops. She absolutely inhaled them!! Sadly for her, I also bought several cans of the different flavors of Nutro "diet" food!! We will see if she likes it at dinner!! ;) The Nutro rep happened to be in PetSmart so I was able to get lots of good info from her about nutrition, etc. |
Aww, that's what we feed Sandy too - Nutro diet food. And those Yogurt drops are my babies' favorite treats besides their cherrios :) |

Inedible Greenies? Do they exist? I really, really thought that someone mentioned that since the choking issue, Greenies came out with a toy with the same flavor. Maybe it was on the Greenie Warning thread, but  it's grown so long now, I don't want to go back through it. Petco didn't have it last night and I don't see it on doggie e-stores. Anyone know of this and a possible source? |
I try Petco and Petsmart and the only ones they have are the bigger ones. I can never find the small ones! I am so anxious to get them because everyone else's little pups love them and I bet Fred would, too! :( |
Greenie makes a rubber looking toothbrush bone..i didn;t buy yet but will do so pronto:) |
My mom just sent me this from the YTH yahoo group: This past weekend K lost her beloved Belfast's Angel Kisses to a blockage and rupture from those "mini Greenies" that we have all been inundated with emails about the past month. According to K, it was one of the most horrible events in her life and she begs everyone to not give their precious little Yorkies any of this product whatsoever. She is not the only one saying this in these past few months, so I beg us all to revisit this topic and be careful once again. It turned out to be a $2400.00 episode and the outcome was another death of one of our little treasures. Please everyone, let's try and get to the bottom of this product and see what we can do to let the company know what is happening to our little ones. This was from a while ago.Thought you would want to read it. I don't give them to Tommy so it don't make any difference to me. Just thought I would help out some. :) If you go to the top of YT page there is a place you can search type in greenies and you will find the rest of there post. It is under WARNING CONCERNING GREENIES! |
it is not only the greenies...this can happen to anything we give to our yorkies...that is why we have to always supervise them. If the greenie was deadly...it wouldn't be legal to be sold... It is very sad when things like this happen...we have to do everything in our powers to prevent it:( |
I would have to agree anything if eaten or swallowed to large or the wrong way can be harmful. It is unfair for us to label the greenies as bad when really the owners should be present when the dogs have anything that could be a potiental hazard. I know my baby likes the petite greenies to chew on, but she is only allowed to have it when my husband or I are in the room, I also pick up any pieces she breaks off right away becasue I dont want it to get lodged anywhere in her little body. I am very protective of her like most of you are protective of your little ones. I think it is sad that accidents happen but they are just that accidents. |

Greenies My babies love greenies better than any other treat we've ever given them. They would be devestated and have greenie withdrawals if we took them away. We get the teenies now because they expect one every evening and it saves us some $$$. I believe my husband told me the last time we bought ssome that it says on the package that you can moisten them in warm water to make them softer and easier to chew. I already threw the bag they came in away because we keep our treats in the treat jar. Maybe someone who still has the bag can look and see if it says that. Now I'm curious and my hubby isn't here so I can't ask him. |
Duke LOVE's his Greenies! Duke is a year and a half old, and he can demolish a petite Greenie in about 24 hours! :p My local pet store runs out of them so quickly, so I think that there are lots of little one's out there that enjoy their Greenies as much as our furbabies do! |
greenies REALLY!?!? Gosh, my little piggies can down a petite greenie in about 10 minutes or less  With the teenies it takes about five minutes! My sister told me that Walgreens had them buy one bag get one free! Not sure if they still are though. |
I noticed Target and Walmart have started carrying the greenies. :) |
teenie greenies What is in those greenies??? They don't smell like anything, I thought they were a toy.. but the dogs go crazy when they see me take out the bag.. |
My baby Chloe loves it the teenie greenie very much! she would first run around with it, play with it then finally sit down and chew on it..I think she is doing perfectly fine with it. I think people just need to buy the right size for their yorkie and watch them eat.... |
I wish, once and for all, we could find the choking incidence/prevalence for greenies vs. any other chew. |
I get mine at kroger, there a bit more expensive there, but when i get grocerys i get those also, sometime they are on sale, mine have never had a problem with them, i feel bad for they baby who did, but like eveything else, you have to watch closly when they chew on anything, i will continue to monitor mine when they eat them, taking them away now would be like they were bad or somthing , they look forward to them so much. |

And isn't intestinal blockage considerably different from choking? How can close supervision prevent that? My husband bought one for Gizmo and I read the package....it says to only give ONE a day. That made me think...hummm If only one a day....why? |
I get the kind that are ground up into little chunks. They are almost the size of small kibble. They run me about $15 for a bag out here. Do they sell them in the states like this? |
