Doggy Scarfs.... what do you think? 4 Attachment(s) Ive been trying to think of a practical way to "dress up" Penny since she is a big dog but she still likes to look girly so Ive decided to make Dog Scarfs out of silk and satin with pretty little rhinestone buckles and niced finished edges so they last. I think they look cute on yorkies and small dogs as well as big dogs and its perfect for dressing up girly dogs without putting clothes on them. Here 3 that I made today and Penny modeling hers(shes not used to modeling so it was harding getting a picture :D ). Before I add them to my website what do ya'll think? |
See, Shana, THIS is where YOUR creativity amazes me!!!! I love these! It's a great idea, both for little dogs and big ones too! The scarf looks awesome on Penny! Good job! |
those are adorable you gotta make some boyish ones :D |
Hey Shana, I love them. If my golden retrievers were still around (rip Sam and Daisy) I would definately buy these for them. Very cute!!!! :) |
these are really really cute. I saw some at Petco that were really cheesy, but i love your design!!!! great job! |
Love them, they are beautiful - so much better than a standard bandana. I think they will sell well! You should have Penny be the model on the website to show you can buy them for large dogs too. Some customers may thing they are only for little dogs like Chloe and Tink. Great job! |
You did great! They are so pretty. I usually don't like scarves/bandanas but those are gorgeous! |

I was thinking of boy bandanas? Would this be something people are interested in? I already have a few bandanas on my website but not many and I was thinkiing of buying cute boy type fabric and making bandanas for the boys. |
Those are amazing! YES, boy bandanas would be great! It's so hard to find boy items! |

Boy items needed for sure!!! I am not just referring to your site but everywhere. It really is difficult finding nice boy stuff. ;) |
Love the scarfs! And I agree, it's hard to find a good selection of boy stuff anywhere. |
I like them ..and think the big doggie looks awesome .in it! Good Job |
Those are great! And definitely boy stuff needed! |
Beautiful fabrics, I like how Penny looks in them a lot! |
I love the fabrics and the little heart buckle is cute. |

I think I really need a boy of my own(and Ive been looking ;) :p ) so I can get as creative as possible with boy stuff. I know I need more boy stuff but I just listed several new boy coats and shirts in the month of January, maybe it would help if I made a department that showed all the boy stuff by itself as I know its hard to find. Im definetly always looking for more guy stuff and I hope to be making a bunch of new shirts and tanks for spring :) |
You know what else is a good idea? Well a good idea I think anyway LOL Shaws...little ones for the girls. I think they are so very adorable - I saw some at Petsmart, but the material they had was kind of plain. |

I just listed them on my website and they are available for small dogs and for the bigger dogs ;) Heres a link: http://tinkerbellscloset.com/Browse_.../Name/Bandanas |
There very cute! They are very cute! My yorkies of course were clothes all the time, But I also am owned by a huge 185 pound saint bernard, she hates clothes, But when I dress her up, Thats what i use scarves, it makes a big difference doesnt it, I like the heart you put on the one scarf, really cute! Oh thank you so much for the compliement. I am so impressed that you own a huge st bernard!! I thought my boxer was big :D . It really is funny because my boxer really does like to be pampered. She doesnt like sweaters because it makes her too hot but she loves pretty collars and scarves and she will prance around. Does your St Bernard do this? |
Shana - I make bandanas for Loki for summer. He has a bunch of cute ones with bones on them, themed ones like for the 4th of July & memorial day, halloween, a red "bandana" pattern one, etc. He even came home from the groomer last time with a Batman scarf! I also make plain white ones and use iron-on transfers with the logo of whatever we are volunteering for that week (usually the Library.) Loki is a good volunteer... people come over to see him and then we give them flyers! Sometimes I just use pinking shears but usually I sew them and then attach a snap so that i don't have to tie/untie them. I sewed some that tied a few times but I found that they were too thick and bulky around his neck. Plus, the snap is pretty safe should it snag on something. It took me a while to get the right size and shape, but I buy the fun dog print fabrics when it's cheap and I make tons. I also buy fun patterns (like from the quilt section) in all different colors. I do find that he looks really great in red! My biggest problem is finding cute fabric! I hope this gives you some ideas. I can even send you some pictures if you want! I have made them 2 layered because some of the fabric I've used is printed. I am not talented enough to make a fold over seam, but that might be the way to go. I'm sure you can figure it out! |
Big Bertha I hate to say does nothing but lay aorund, she is very old. Her biggest thrill of the day is when customs come in the door she lays on the floor,m and rolls her eyes in there direction to say hello. She doesnt even move her head, just the eye's. She does however in the summer she loves it when we go up to the lake to swim. She really doesnt swim much, she just stands in the water and watches everyone. We make sure and keep her a kiddie pool in the summers at home. She will just lay in it and have her head hang over the side and sleep. Old girl she is, But very gentle and sweet, She acts like she is the Momma to the other dogs, but of course she isnt. They pounce on her and she just lets them! But she does love the scarves. and collar covers. Erin another thing to also think about is using velcro, for the snap, and make them two sided, where you have one fabric on one side and other on the other. this way you can reverse them. Also if you dont sew, trying using fleece and cut strips on thends and tye them for a fringe. It is a fun project to do eve with kids, or another thing when using fleece use pinking shears because fleece doesnt fray if not sewn. Just a thought. Rena |
I love your scarf idea- they are very beautiful. My Golden always wore a bandana- I had made several for different occasions- yours are much classier. |
Rena- Big Bertha(by the way I love that name) sounds like a wonderful girl. I would love to see a picture of her, I am fascinated by big dogs. And Erin thank you so much for the ideas! :p |
I think they are absolutely adorable. I agree, I wish there were more boy items available around here. I think they should sell quite well. Very different option.........classy!!!!!!!!!! |
