Looking for a Lithium Ion Clipper with removable heads Hi , I have two little Boys and they have now had two haircuts at almost 10 weeks by my two type of scissors (chunkers and small eyebrow system ones). I think i would like to get some battery powered clippers, already found some salon people that are suggesting A5 & A7 and possibly a A4 for Yorkies. Anybody have any feedback before I buy the Oster Li-Ion Professional Cordless? seems to be one of the few that allow head removal and super quiet operating sound levels. thanks |
Thanks for all the views guys, looks like I am the first so will advise how they work out for us! |
I haven't used an Oster b4, but have heard that they are very nice quality clippers that last a long time. The interchangeable blades are great, you can get the desired length of cut. Just remember for blades, higher the #, the shorter the cut. I use Andis clippers & the blades start w/ a # & end w/ 'FC'. So Oster blades must start w/ 'A'? Or is this human clippers? I made a thread awhile back in the grooming forum. Some of the links might not work or it might not be on special anymore but you can find all the grooming supplies on PetEdge(dot)com. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...room-home.html |
Thanks Mimimomo, I have also used clippers before just never cordless ones. I agree exchangeable heads are best as they are easy to clean and maintain that way. Just have to get over the sticker shock on the Oster's and find the best place to procure them now :aimeeyork |
We use Wahl Lith Ion ProSeries Pet Clipper. It is pretty good but definatly not professional quality. It gets the job done and way better than the old cord one that we had. It takes a few hours to get our two trimmed, but they are on the bigger side at 10 and 11 lbs. But I say as long as you have the time and patience go for it. I do not have and extra $100+ laying around for them to get trimmed every month or two, so the cost was definatly worth it at $55. Start young so they get used to it. Our boys get better every time we cut them :) |
thanks Atlas, I agree about taking them in for grooming can become expensive and time consuming not to mention your never sure how nice the groomers are so with my last double coated dogs I learned fast how to deal with them myself. I already ordered the Oster Octane Lithium with a few extra heads I figured I have two boys and many years to come with them might as well spend the extra cash up front to ensure a easy frequent job can be had. |
Got the Oster Octane and they are great! 2 Attachment(s) These clippers have removable heads and is every bit as strong as my powered clippers were. Taking it slow but here's my first attempt at giving the boys a cut without the thinning scissors. job went from 45 minutes each to about 10 so very happy with my choice on these clippers. these clipper run at 7000 RPM vs most other battery ones around 4000 allowing these to run stronger seemed more then enough and fairly quiet so as to not alarm my boys too much. My Smaller boy In blue needs more time to be comfortable so he got a body clipper only this time |

Wow 7000 rpm, that's pretty powerful (& a great investment). I have a cordless wahl arco in pink & it's only 5500. I have clipper envy. :D |
1 Attachment(s) okay just one more after our long walk yesterday :) |
