grooming tips..shampoos....
 

harry is brushed daily sometimes even twice a day..but he always looks like a bum(a cute bum..but a bum)...any tips on shampoos, etc...or maybe i am even using the wrong brush...or shampoos.....
and do i need anything special to clean his eye gunkies or can i just use a cotton ball with warm water...

I use, carry on the site and would suggest CC products for bathing. You can use the shampoo and conditioner and then you can spritz the ice on ice before you do your daily brushing. For eye goops I use eye envy. I loved it so much I started carrying it on the site. You will for sure have a pretty pup!

For the eye gunk, I just use a cloth with warm water. When its very gunky, I brush the goop out with a fine tooth comb. You can try using a tear stain remover like Eye Envy. I also spray CC Ice on Ice on his coat when I brush and it keeps it shiny and smooth. I love that stuff!

I use CC products and for some reason lexi still looks greesy, WHY? M I doing something wronge, or is she just a greesey pup?

You might not be diluting it enough.....?

I've always used it full strength! Definitely make sure to shake the bottle so you mix all the oatmeal in.

Harry looks dirty and greasy....if u had to pick one or 2 products would u go with the shampoo and conditioner or the ice?

So does chloe. Maybe its their coat types, because Ive tried lots of different stuff.

They have sample kits which have all 4 products in it for $10 plus shipping. I got one of those for Lucky & the bottle will last awhile since we are using them on smaller dogs. :)

We also use both the CC system and the eye envy....they work so great!!! We brush them everynight with the Ice on Ice and that has really helped their coat shine!!

sorry but I just think CC is okay, not totally special. I like Pantene just as much, if not more. shelby seems cleaner and hair is more full after Pantene.

besides then we can use the same bonaza size shampoo. :D

You can use human shampoo

some people use human shampoo, I don't because it can really dry out there skin, and thats really not good. The best thing to do is find a good shampoo and use it instead.

That is true, for some dogs, but for most it is fine. Try it and if your dog starts scratching or you think he is dry, keep the Pantene for yourself :p I wouldn't have ever considered Pantene except Shelby's breeder suggested it. She has been doing this for 30 years, so I took her word for it. Works great. 7,8, and 9 months. She doesn't look dry does she :eek:

Buddy Wash, etc.
 

I know some people use human shampoo, especially baby shampoo - but I have found the most luxurious feeling shampoo for my Yorkies. It's called Buddy Wash from Cloud Star. It's a Lavendar & Mint shampoo made with Natural Herbs & oils to Deodorize, moisturize & rejuvenate your pup. It feels wonderful in your hands!

I also use Buddy Splash - it's a leave-on conditioner that can be used as a between bath spritzer to make your dog smell great. It also has Lavendar & Mint in it. It works wonders as a detangler too!! :)

I haven't tried the company's regular conditioner but I might because I got a new furnace this year and it seems to have made the whole house drier including the dogs who have had a few flakes this winter.

I buy these products from my accupuncture vet - yep, he's our regular vet. Absolutely, wonderful. But it looks like Cloud Star is sold all over on the Internet.

I bought the CC four bottle set for 10 bucks, and wow was it ever amazing. Baxter was scratching before, now his coat looks great and no scratching. I am sticking with it, I finally found something that works and keeps coat great. :thumbup:

I also tried CC and wasn't that impressed. My groomer told me not to use Pantene because of the alcohol and another chemical that's in them. She suggested Suave, bio-groom, or tropiclean. She said the most important thing was to make sure it was a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and since Lucy has a pretty fine coat I should only brush her about once a week.

Regarding Eye Goop
 

This may sound crazy, but Abbie used to have terribly wet eyes and my son told me to allow her to drink only distilled water. Well, sure enough, her eyes are 100% drier. He said the goop is caused by the minerals and stuff in our (Florida) water. I don't know about all that, but even my husband is convinced. That's all Abbie drinks now.
