Thinking of knitting for doggies, need feedback suggestion on fair priceing????? I am seriously thinking of starting to knit doggie sweaters also to sew little coats with hoods,etc. Was wanting to know what others think in how I would go about fair priceing these to sell. Appreciate your feedback. We are rather home bound due to my husband haveing Parkinsons, I am one that needs to keep my hands busy doing something and I thought this might be a good idea. Baby Blessing already has six new fun fur sweaters and looks so adoreable in them, will take her picture soon in one and post it. Just an idea and would like to know what others think. I don't know. I wouldn't start off with a high price because more doesn't always been better. Maybe you could start $10-15 and see how that goes. |
id say $20 if your work is great to perfect things like that are alot of work and yarn s VERY expensive people pefer handmade things |
I also just started sewing stuff to sale I would make things for my girls only at first, dresses, coats, panties. Now its bally bands, create pads & covering, vest and doggies blankets... and I have them at low price because I'm just starting and I do it because I like you I need something to do or I'll drive my Yorkie crazy. Also you need to look at size xxsm to Lrg and what is it a dress Lrg or a vest small, big difference in work and cost. Type of material Fleece or Velvet/w Faux Fur, details dress beaded by hand or just iron flower. Like they say " Time is money" , some times the smallest is the hardest and unless your making it you'll know what I mean. Show us pictures that's the only way to price. Good Luck!! :thumbup: |
Well I am probably on the other end of the spectrum. I try to buy my yarn on sale but generally I pay upwards of 8-20 a skein. I prefer to work with high quality yarns. And I am a perfectionist so it takes me forever to knit a sweater for my 2 and a half lber!! If I were to sell that same sweater for 15-20 dollars I am losing time and money!! On the other hand if you are buying yarn for 3.00 at Micheals and are only using 1 ball of yarn you are doing ok at 15-20 providing you knit fast. Mind you I have just started knitting so I am not really fast nor do I have hours to sit and work on one project but to me 15 dollars is ridiculous for something beautifully handmade (with emphasis on the "beautifully"). You usually get what you pay for. P.S. I do not sell my sweaters tho, I will do it only for my dogs. |
Thanks for feedback on knitting Thanks for all the replies back to my posting on knitting for others, I have given up the thought of doing it for others, I agree it is not my choice either to use the cheaper yarns, I won't knit with anything but quality yarns. It was a thought :) now that I have found YT , I find that I am useing my computer more and doing less chores which is great, and have learned that chores can wait and maybe I will make time for less work and more of painting which is a love of mine. As I type this Baby Blessing is cuddled up in my arm, sleeping, she sure has been a Blessing to us, we are so glad we got another yorkie to love. Our home is still at a loss without Cassie, hope time will ease the pain of her not being here with us anymore. Thanks to all that replied back to me. I totally agree with you Baby Blessing. Once I was looking for handknit dog sweaters and found a site that had beautiful sweaters in really nice yarns. Their prices were 180 .00 for one to fit my smallest. I thought OMGOSH that is expensive! Then I learned how to knit and started buying yarn, NOW I GET IT! LOL. |
