Carrier after surgery Gracie is scheduled for bilateral LP surgery next week, and I would like to have a carrier that would be comfortable for both us--not a purse, but a sling type. Does anyone know of one that would be comfortable for her (and me) as I have visions of carrying her around for a few weeks. Of course, it needs to be appropriate for an under-three-pounder who has two "hurt" legs. I am sure she will do well, but I know that orthopedic surgery is no fun and I worry about her hurting and us not knowing. |
How about a pet stroller? Mine wanted to be left alone and not touched or moved the first week after surgery. |
I agree, a stroller sounds like it would be more comfortable, at least in the beginning. I'd be worried about her legs getting pushed around or her weight falling on them in a sling. Yes, I agree with above poster. Having gone thru lp surgery twice, you do not want to put pressure against the leg(s). The last surgery we used a stroller as suggested in a thread by another member, worked out great! I could wheel him with me wherever I went in the house and I didn't worry about him trying to stand on his hinds trying to get out of his pen. He could see me so he was a little more calmer than if he were in another room in his expen or crate. Best of luck with your little ones procedure. Thanks! I did get the stroller, and at least it limits her movement, but she is a wild child! We are headed back to the surgeon because she has managed to pull out two of her stitches. May I say that I wish that this intelligence extended to potty training? In any event, she got around the first collar at while still at the vet. They gave us a huge one that she trips on, and she has gotten around that also. Thinking of changing her name to Houdini?:rolleyes: So, the real question. Would she be able to get around the Kiss-e Collar, and how long would it take to get one if I order it? I should have done this before the surgery. (Sad eyes) |
We saw the surgeon, and they have rigged Gracie with a soft AND hard collar! She is totally perplexed. She can drink from her water bottle, so I think I am going to hand feed her for the next few days rather than trying to take it off and on. So sad, but I will treat it as a bonding time. Stitches come out in a week, but she will have to wear the collars a little longer to keep her from biting the incisions as they heal. Oh, the things a pet mom has to learn! |

If you should decide to go with one of my Kiss-E collars I usually will have orders out within a day or 2 of order placement. My collar is a soft collar that you can fold down for eating and drinking. It is adjustable so you can make the opening smaller or larger depending on the circumstance.
