Looking for Backpack style carrier I'm looking for recommendations on backpack style pet carriers. I want to buy one by summer so I can take my dog bike riding with me. I do not like the front style carriers, pouch types, or the ones where the legs hang out. Airline approved would be a plus. My yorkie is a big one at 15" long 11" tall and 10lbs. Thank you in advance for all your help. Nikki |
Have you checked with Gerry at www.imapreciouspup.com .... she always seems to have those hard to find items... Just a thought... :) |

I have this backpack style carrier: http://tinkerbellscloset.com/Browse_..._Backpac-o-Pet |
I was going to recommend a Celltei. But when thinking about it, most people ride with their backs bent forward. Would the dog be comfortable at such an angle? It's just a thought. I know that there are baskets and I have seen some people use those 'wagon' type add ons for kids and put their dogs in them instead. |
I have a larger Yorkie (10 lbs) and have both the celltei back pack and a carrier that straps to the front of my bike. I love our back pack but have never used it on the bike. I think it would be too cumbersom. The front carrier is great though. We had to find the right harness to use (I didn't want anything that applied pressure on her throat), and ride around the quiet neighborhood to get her used to the motion, but now it's one of our favorite things to do. If your interested, we've got some pics of her in the carrier, and I can look up ordering info for you. |
the Dog-Gone carrier Here is what you need--The Dog-Gone Carrier http://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.h...ae5&ccd=BZR001 We use Edie's to take her biking and cross-country skiing. It has a 4 point collar built in so she can't jump out. We bought the insulated insert for winter time too. |
I have this one - the Wheel Away Pet Carrier http://www.snoozer-dog-beds.com/WheelAway/wheel1.htm It is a backpack or has wheels and a telescoping handle to convert to a rolling bag. It is airline approved. I haven't used it yet as a backpack - but it works really nicely as a rolling bag. It comes in different sizes and I found it at Petco as well as several places online. |
