Hartz! 1 Attachment(s) Are Hartz products ok for yorkies...I am not talking about flea colors...I mean grooming products...Or is it just a good idea to buy from a different company all together? Thank you for your advice |
The shampoos will dry out the hair...at least I haven't found one by hartz that didn't. Never tried the teeth stuff, however. |
Thank you, you think I should taste it first to make sure it's ok.... |
Hartz has been around for a long time and they make so many different things for dogs and cats. i would say that the dental products would probably be ok, since most toothpaste for dogs are mostly the same other than the flavors. i wouldnt use their flea and tick products or shampoo though. my grandmother does use hartz shampoo on her cat, but we are not talking about a coat there that would be damaged otherwise. they also make a puppy shampoo that is a light purple color, can't remember the name of it, but my neighbor used it on her puppy and said that it did indeed burn it's eyes as well as irritating them when it claimed to be tearless. You do that Mone't...hee hee, i'll let you tell me how it tastes ok? :D I know that the CET toothpaste I have smells just like chicken...whew! give me my mint any day...but I don't think my yorkies would like anything mint flavored...ha ha! heck i don't think they'd care if it was rib-eye flavored, they hate having their teeth brushed anyway! |

Thank you Kimberley, and Robbie.....So what kind of "puppy" shampoo you use... |
I like the Chris Christensen products. When I went to visit Villette, she gave me some to try out! I LOVE IT!!!! Placed an order with CC Products since Gerry owns the site and is a WONDERFUL person...plus, she gave a discount for YT members. ;) |
Shampoo 1 Attachment(s) Hi, I use efa HyLyt. It was recommended by my vet. Then again...Science Diet is too, and THAT's not the greatest! LOL I also got the bath coat oil, but didn't try it yet. I like the shampoo. It doesn't smell the greatest, but the vet said that the ones that smell beautiful aren't always the best. He compared it to hand lotion for humans. You know what I mean? :) |
I've used coat handlers on my adults and older puppies for a while now. there is one called sungold through pet edge that is tearless for pups, i still use that from time to time. you could just use a tearless baby shampoo until your puppy gets a little older then switch to something that will be better on the coat as it grows. its up to you and i dont frown on any paticular bathing method....as long as you keep them clean! :D i will say that the CH clarifying is good on the follicles and promotes hair growth. i dont put shampoo on my younger puppy's faces anyway. i wash that part with a warm washcloth. just the body and butt in the shampoo.. |
This is totally my opinion, but I will not buy ANY Hartz products. When I was younger, my mom used their flea treatment on our dog who got a nasty chemical burn on his neck. One month later he started seizuring and eventually was put down because the seizures happened one right after another, and they couldnt stop it. I was young, and Im not saying that Hartz caused this, but I wont take my chances. And I wont support their company by buying any of their products. Have you seen this website? http://www.hartzvictims.org/ |
Oh--i believe it is widely known that the Hartz flea preventative can be toxic. Ask your vet, though. I don't know about any of their other products. |
I had no choice when we were in Williamsburg and got the puppy shampoo from hertz that's all they had up there well that was until I used it and the next day we found a petsmart. The shampoo wasn't too bad their hair felt all fluffy and soft. I stay away from hartz, but like I said had two very dirt dogs that needed baths. So now I am trying to decide if I want to take the stuff back, I'm on the fence since it did ok, but I still worry about any of their products |
