Hello, YT! Question here... Has anyone of you here used Comfortis on your dog for fleas and it worked? I bought one pill today and gave it to my Miki around 3:10pm cst. It's 6:30pm cst now and she is still scratching. I read good reviews about it but how do I know if it really worked on Miki if she is still scratching? Or is it normal for her to scratch still? I paid nearly 20 bucks for this one pill, I am hoping it does what I was told it does at the vet clinic. So far, I haven't seen any dead fleas on my bed where she's at mostly. I combed her with the flea comb and didn't see any on the flea comb. But I brushed her just 5 minutes after giving her the pill. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. :) Thanks!

Hi KeiGirl! I don't personally have any experience using Comfortis, but the flea medication itself does not have anti-itch properties. If your pup has already been bitten by fleas, that is probably the cause of the scratching. It is also possible she is having an allergic reaction to any bites. Inspect the area and make sure everything looks ok. Constant scratching, biting, licking is definitely not good for them. You may want to give her a bath with something that will soothe her skin. Something with oatmeal is usually good.

I don't have to use flea protection on my 4 very much, but when I do I use Comfortis and it works great. I prefer the pill rather than spot treatments like Frontline, etc. because they left yucky residue on the hair and didn't work well.

As IslandGirl mentioned, the bites that are already there can cause itching for a few days. A soothing bath may help, and will also help to wash away fleas, dead or alive.

My friend's Jack Russell had a big flea problem. She used frontline, not working. Waited and then gave her Comfortis. It did the job. She is not scratching. I have other friends who use this and like it. I use Revolution but I heard good things about comfortis.

I've read so many good reviews and has been still researching, but my problem now is that my dog keeps scratching and biting at her skin. I look where she's biting and I've even used comb and part her hair to look for fleas. I don't see any fleas, but then again, I barely seen any before the comfortis. I did see some before the pill but just not many. She doesn't go outside so I don't know how she kept picking up the fleas. Every time I bathe her with the flea treatment she minutes after the bath she's scratching again and I see fleas on her later. I would hope the fleas that find my baby isn't resistant to the comfortis pill. :( I give her allergy medication for the itching and I have used Cortisone cream, and Lanacane cream before on a a couple of red spots I found on her from biting and scratching. The cream did well, but I don't know if I am giving her enough of the allergy medication or not. Oh and I have flea bomb every room and living area, as well the dining area... and even the kitchen! I plan to do it again. And I do vacuum often and empty trash right after. I'm totally confused and now wondering if maybe she have allergies. My last dog had allergy problems so bad it became too expensive to keep her and I gave her to a friend of the family. If It's not allergies and the fleas or rather NEW fleas are on her (don't know for sure), should I ask vet about adding another treatment of some sort? I'm new to Comfortis so I've no clue. :( I just want my baby better and to not suffer anymore with all this scratching and biting. Thank goodness she doesn't have any bald spots.

If the fleas had already bitten her she will continue to scratch for a bit until the bites go away. We use comfortis and it works great. Ours are both under 5lbs so our vet has us give them half a pill each. Also to stop the itching you might try after a bath mixing half vinegar and water and rinsing her in it. Leave it on and let it dry. It will smell until she dries but then the smell will go away.

Well, my puppy (9 mo) has been on Frontline Plus for about 7 weeks, still find a couple of fleas on him, my wife is getting flea bites, I gave him comfortis and Wham.. the fleas started coming out of the wood work.. literally 15 min after taking the meds.. they looked like they are on drugs.. I took out the flea comb and got to work..

I have had several dogs that I had given comfortis to, it works great, but, you have to vacuum entire house that dog has access to, empty your vacuum outside into your trash pail, do not empty into your kitchen trash, any flees you you may have vacuumed will jump out of kitchen trash. Wash your bed linen, dogs bedding, flees lay eggs, which will hatch and be right back on the dog. Constant vacuum is mandatory to rid house of flee larva, and flee poop, and washing anything your you dog lays on, sleeps on. Vacuum sofa, what ever your dog comes into contact with. comfortis, will kill what is on the pup, but you have to get rid of what may in your house. Good luck in ridding poor baby of flees.
