Puppy Apartment I'm thinking of getting a puppy apartment to house train Benny, I've seen a few video's about how it works and I'm wondering if it's worth the cost. I was curious if anyone has even used one of these and if they have had any luck with them? Also I was thinking about getting the Medium size one since Benny always shreds the pee-pads, I was thinking about getting a potty patch but was wondering if it would fit? Any information is appreciated! |
I saw this in a photo on YT somewhere... didn't know what it was, lol. Bump! |
Do you mean the potty training puppy apartment? If so, we have one in a size small (could've went with a XS if truth be told) and we LOVE it! We bought it before we brought KS home. She was potty trained in no time and still uses it to this day. We have been very impressed. We buy pads from tractor supply for it now. It's cheaper. The wee wee pad brand. You can get a box of 100 for $20. Hope that helps. :) I have pix of our set up somewhere on here. We ordered the xpen to go with too. |

I have one from richell that actually expands to five feet long if we need to leave her for any extended time so she has room for food and water and toys. It can also be just enough for her bed and a good sized bathroom. I got it on wayfiar. I bought the medium but the small would have bee fine. It has a floor and comes in two wood colors. I love ours.....it was pretty pricey but I want one that would blend into the room... |
1 Attachment(s) here is a pic of mine. it also has a separate door and top you can buy separtley (which I did) |

Anyone have experience in potty training to go outside along with using the puppy apartment during the day (when you're at work or such)? |

I just wanted to add that I was watching the DVD that was sent with the puppy apartment and they said to train your dog in the apartment first, then once the puppy is trained then you can start training outside, but they don't recommend doing both at once because it can confuse the pup. |
Charlie ( 2 1/2 years) has the puppy apartment and it is what helped me house train him. When I just left him in my laundry room ( before the puppy apt.) with a pee pad he destroyed the pee pad and used it as a toy and went to the bathroom any where on the floor?!!??!? Interestingly enough, he prefers to go outside and potty so I keep a pee pad in the apt but it never gets used - but I feel better knowing if I'm gone too long ( which is rare) he can go to the bathroom in his apt. and not be uncomfortable. I bought the metal one - I didn't know they made a pretty wooden one - I would have preferred that. Charlie loves his apt. and will chose to go in there to sleep even when I'm home and leave him out to run around. He seems to feel very safe in there. I would highly recommend it!! I don't want to jinx myself, but Charlie hasn't had an accident in over a year!! The first year of his life I was about to give up on him being housebroken and bought him a belly band because he could not be trusted. I think you will be very happy with the puppy apt. Good luck!! |
i have a little girl that is 16 weeks. we brought her home at 12 weeks and immediately use the puppy apt. it was hit or miss for about 2 weeks but as of the past week we are able to leave the doors open and give her access to the first floor of our home with no accidents. we only close the doors at night for safety reasons. when she is tired she puts herself in for naps and uses the pads regularly. so for us it is working. |
Wouldn't it just be cheaper to buy a larger 2 door crate with a divider and cut a hole in the divider? (Smoothing out the edges of course so the furbabies don't get cut) Or is there something else that's special about the crate? |
Probably, but I was not prepared to do that. The important thing is that the sleeping area should only large enough to sleep, stand, turn around. And then have access to the pads when needed. Otherwise puppy will soil the sleeping area. I'm sure there are other ways to train a puppy. This is what I am using and so far so good. :aimeeyork |
