furminator Has anyone used the furminator on their yorkie? If so do you like it when they have long hair?? |
It says specifically furminator is NOT to be used on long hair. A furminator is specifically designed 1. For fur 2. For dogs that shed Yorkies have hair not fur, and yorkies are nonshedding. I like Madan brushes sold by Mimimomo a member here great prices!!! Why is it you are considering a furminator for your yorkie? |
It was just a suggestion by a coworker, I want to know how to better take care of my yorkies hair. The groomer says brush every day and not to bathe him at home, but I would rather do it at home. |
A furminator is used to pull out undercoat on double coated breeds. Yorkies have no undercoat, just a long silky coat. Use a metal comb daily and a good pin brush like a Madan. |

Use a quality shampoo and conditioner, and keep him brushed out in between baths. Buy a nice pin brush and comb. Brush/comb small sections at a time with strokes starting at the bottom of the hair section. Move up a little higher once the lower portion brushes easily. For tangles, use one hand to hold the hair and keep it from tugging the skin. Use the other hand to careful comb and detangle. I prefer combs for tight tangles. Definitely no need for a furminator. |
Furminator is amazing. Love it and highly recommend. BUT not for yorkies. They are great for shedding dogs. Not good for dogs with the type of hair yorkies have. Maximo isreally good at this brush stuff. I'd take her advice. |
