Best Shampoo/Conditioner/Detangler you've tried? I have been using Paul Mitchell tearless shampoo on Sebi and it's not bad but, his coat is not as shiny and healthy looking as I'd like it to be. He doesn't have silky long hair he has shorter..I believe it's called a cotton coat (correct me if I'm wrong). He matts very easily. Any suggestions on what I could use on his hair? I'm not a big fan of online shopping...I'd really like to just be able to run to the local pet store and pick something up but, if you highly recommend something that's only sold online I will deff consider it. Thanks :) |
I would recommend Yorkie Splash and Shine. Also Yorkie Sheen for the detangler. You do have to order online. But I think it is well worth it. I think she sells sample sizes too. Yorkie Splash and Yorkie Shine | Yorkie Shampoo and Yorkie Conditioner |
I'm obsessed with Chris Christensen!!! |
Minksheen Hi! I also have a cotton coated yorkie/poodle mix so I feel your pain-haha. The shampoo I like best is Minksheen. You do have to order it on-line, but I love the conditioning qualities that is has in it (the conditioner is in the shampoo). I think we also go through certain stages where we just want something "New"! I'm going through that now and am thinking of trying the Yorkie Splash and Shine for my other dog (biewer) who has straighter hair (although it's a puppy coat). Good luck.... there are MANY products out there to try! |
From one soft coated yorkie momma to another, I highly recommend Yorkie Splash and Shine. Its absolutely fabulous, and his coat and skin have never felt better. However, with a soft coat (commonly called cottony) there is nothing you can add or do that will give the coat shine and luster. The soft coat is velvety, and cuddle-rific because it is so soft and fluffy, but it is naturally dull and has little to no shine. It's just how the soft coat is. Didn't see you're not into online shopping. Umm... I've used Nootie from Petco in a pinch. (To be read, i ran out of YSS and forgot to reorder) It cleans them up well and makes them smell yummy. But it doesn't provide much to the coat. But that's just the coat itself. |

Thanks for the replies! I think I'll give the Yorkie splash and shine a try..seems to be very popular around here :) |
I also love IV San Bernard. But it can get expensive. The PEK conditioner is great! |
WOW love this site...you are all going to be the BEST arsenal ever for any and all questions and issues. Thank you for that awesome original question as well... :) |
We use Chris Christensen, but as a conditioner I like Biolage detangling solution..... of course, it can't be used around the eyes, but to make comb outs easlier after a bath, it is great!!!! |

Human conditioner is fine, but shampoo isn't. A dog's pH is different, so human shampoo is much too drying for a dog. I like Isle of Dogs #10 shampoo and their deep conditioner, Chris Christensen Smooth, Jerob Cocoa Butter and Mink Oil shampoo, and PEK conditioner. |
