Boots :animal-paHi everyone. I am wondering if anyone can tell me which boots they put on their yorkie to walk outside in the winter? Also which size did you buy? My puppy is currently almost 7 months and weighs 8.8lbs. His daddy was close to this size (somewhere in the 8lb range) and his mommy was quite a bit smaller. Also, how did you get the puppy used to wearing them? |
I probably need to know this, too, as Tibbe & I are finally walking daily now that the hip is getting better. Tibbe is 9" tall at withers, 9 1/2" from base neck to base tail and weighs 5.6 oz. now. I think I'll just make them a lot of fun, put them on and take them right off in my lap frequently & treat, praise him effusively, play tugowar & then let him stand in them for a few seconds, praise, treat, tugowar and work up to them staying on a bit longer each time with a fun celebration after each little session and then graduate to doing it all outside, then walking a bit down the street. |

does anyone have boots that their dog can walk in normally, I have not bought from Karen but in the past from the store, Lola could not get used to in and I was afraid she would break her foot or leg. |
I don't plan to use them except when there is extremely cold weather and frostbite or pain a possibility but I don't fear Tibbe hurting himself in boots. He definitely won't like them at first - he hates any clothing and only tolerates harness or collar and can't wait to get them off. He is the greatest lover of freedom from accessories that I have ever had. When he gets his harness, raincoat or a winter sweater off after coming inside, he runs and runs and then wallows on the couch for the longest time, then just turns on his side and lies there enjoying his freedom. It's his routine every time. He's one happy camper to be freeeeeeee all over. |
I sure hope I can teach him to wear them. I like to walk him every morning before work and people still use a lot of salt around here in the winter. I use the pet friendly stuff if I have to as we also have cats in the house and don't want to bring salt in the house. I worry that Wallee will get salt on his paws and since I am rushed in the morning I really don't have the time to add washing and drying feet to the morning ritual.;) |

Is Karen at alldogboots? I too need help on the best boots for my baby. It's going to be a long winter. It's 46 degrees this morning, I put her warmest sweater on and took her out for our regular morning walk. I put her down and she peed, but then she sat down and refused to walk. I picked her up and she was shivering. Poor baby, I brought her right back inside. She loves to walk though and I think it is good for her, so I just ordered more warmer coats, hopefully that will help n |

I agree, Karen has been wonderful helping me to choose the proper size of Sandals and Boots for Yazmin. ;) |
Today I picked up some mutluks for Wallee. We tried then on in the store. He really didn't like them and started whining. I sure hope I can get him used to them. He already runs away when I go to put his harness on even though he knows it means a walk which he loves. |

PawZ I use PawZ with my Yorkie. They look and feel like balloons and are waterproof. They stay on and are great for snow and ice. There are 12 in a pack and are disposable and reusable. They cost between $16-$20 a pack. My Yorkie has yet to wear out any. I think they will last several seasons. PawZ allows the dog to have a more natural feel of the ground. Hope this helps!:) |
Mine wears slippers around the house since the tile gets cold and I don't know if it is just because he is strange and loves clothes or what but he runs and plays normal in them. |
I just bought Dog Pawz..they are little rubber boots that looks like balloons and they stay on. Pao had a lot of boots before and they fall out easily and get lost in the snow it gets annoying so its nice to have something that is waterproof and stays on. |
