Anyone use Plaque Attack
 

I was wondering if anyone has used Plaque Attack. Has anyone used any product that helps with keeping teeth clean. I tried one of those products to put into the drinking water. It tasted terrible, got some on my finger so I tried it:2omg:. So I didn't want to use it. I do brush Angels teeth, but Gracie fights me right now. I am working with her on that. If there is such a product that works I would like to use it.

I can recommend Petrodex. I brush Lulu's teeth every morning and it does a good job. Don't know much about Plaque Attack though. To the best of my knowledge, in order for a pet toothpaste to be effective, it needs to have enzymes.

I use Petrodex too. It works great. But I can't get Gracie to let me use a toothbrush on her. Right now I'm just putting it on my finger & letting her lick some off then rubbing a little on her teeth. I've been doing this every day for almost a month. She hates it. I'm gaining ground with her little by little. But I an looking for something I can spray in her mouth or put in her water that will help in addition to working on brushing with her. Gracie's mouth is so tiny I can't find a toothbrush small enough for her. Any suggestions. I've looked at cat toothbrushes but they are to big too. Her teeth are in trouble & I want to do something until I get her teeth cleaned. The vet wants to wait until next year. I want to get some that will help in the meantime. The old saying prevention is the best medicine is true.

Tallulah hates the brush and resists a bit when I do her teeth, but perhaps you could offer her your finger with a fingerbrush on it and see how that goes? Then try with toothpaste. My pup quit fighting me tooth and nail when she realized the toothpaste was yummy.

Gracie likes the tooth paste too but the finger brush is to big for her tiny mouth. I have been considering using the pads that you can wrap around your finger. Also someone suggested going to Michaels and getting a brush from the arts supply section. But I haven't gotten that far yet. Gracie also must have been abused while being groomed because if she has any tangles she will not let me comb them out. I have to wet them and then comb them out. She runs under the bed when she thinks she's done something bad. So I have been coaxing her into trusting me not to hurt her in any way. But its only been a month & I do see signs of progress. We will keep at it until she can get the bad memories behind us.

Just takes time. Brush everyday for a few seconds each side. May take many months but they give in.

I just had to have a dental done on one of my girls...I also try to brush...not a good thing...1 of my females lets me in her mouth with my finger..Lillie (the one who just had a dental) fights me but I can at least get a little in there...Bentley...new little man...HATES IT!! at the advise of a wonderful member who had put up with TONS of questions from me (thank you!) she suggested using tropiclean teeth gel...it removes plaque and tarter...I just started using it today...has to be applied everyday for 30 days then when you get the results you want use twice weekly...After just spending 589.00!! on Lillies dental I figured I would try ANYTHING to help there teeth. I will update when/if I see any results.

My previous pups had dentals every year. Resulted in pulled teeth. I told myself I will do better with Moki. I brush everyday. Even when he hated it 4 seconds worth. Just to get use to something in his mouth. Now I can brush his mouth without to much protest. Takes alot of time and patience. And don't try to do it all in one session or they will hate it. JME

I didn't really ever brush Jackson's teeth for the first 3 years of his life. He was a toothbrush hater for a long time. It was such a struggle that I had basically given up and managed only to brush his teeth when he'd get in the bath tub every week or two.

He had to have a dental last November due to another tooth issue (over-bite, had a vital pulpotomy on his canine tooth) so got them cleaned while under. They weren't terrible but did have some tarter build-up on all of his canine teeth (enough to warrant a cleaning). Anyways now they are shiny and white and I plan on keeping them that way and hopefully not needing for a long time (at least that's my goal).

So anyways, after the procedure on his mouth, we weren't allowed to brush for two weeks so I took advantage and every night for those 2 weeks, we would go into the bathroom. First couple of days, he'd just go in there and get a treat. Then I brought out the brush, introduced him to it, let him sniff, etc. Eventually he had started opening his mouth when he saw it. I would lift up his lip, get him used to me touching around his face, etc, and he'd get a treat.

Now he's pretty good at getting his teeth brushed. He comes into the bathroom with me or I put him on my bed... (I always use a high value treat, like a piece of chicken) it's his little routine and he definitely doesn't like it (he tries to run away at first)... I wouldn't say he enjoys it but he tolerates it and that's what is important!

I bought CET beef flavored toothpaste which he seems to like so I think that helped too. :) Oh, I also use petzlife about once every 3-5 days, we also have HealthyMouth so use that a few times a week, and I sprinkle some Prodent PlaqueOff on his food a few times a week too.

But it just took a little extra effort, and now it's not so bad.

Yup either try and try or pull them out. Only 2 choices I've experienced.
