Raised feeding bowls for a 2 lb yorkie I am looking for a raised feeding bowl set for Cassie who is 2 lbs and stands 6" high. All the raised bowls are too tall for her, and she needs the bowls raised because she has AAI and I don't want her to bend her neck while eating and drinking. Find the right bowls have been a challenge. The last set I got, "Just the Right Size" feed bowls are actually not the right size and are still too tall for her.. Right now I am using towels to raise some very shallow small saucer's about an inch up off the floor, and that seems to do the trick. But it is messy and inevitably water gets all over the floor. Does any body know of very shallow raised feeding bowls that are raised about an inch or two at most off of the floor. Any help at all would be most appreciated. Thanks so much for your help :-)!!! I saw some small raised feeders at TJ Maxx this last weekend. They had metal stands and stainless bowls. |
Thanks for your help. I think I have a TJ Maxx where I live, so I will go and check it out. Do all TJ Maxx stores carry the same product? Thanks, Shellie :-) |
I bought one at petco. I would imagine pet smart would carry them to. the only thing...he kept knocking them over but, I had it in his x-pen when he was a puppy and he would jump when I would leave. |
The merchandise varies at each TJ Maxx, but I think the pet section with those bowls aren't uncommon. I also find pet items sometimes at Ross and Marshall's. You probably could find them also at Petsmart or Petco as Blowry posted above. I'm thinking the other stores might have the feeders at a better price. |
I used the ones for kitties, they aren't quite as high and they don't have to reach over the feeder as far to get to the bowls.:D |

My tiniest furbaby, Bijou, is over two pounds, but she never made three pounds. She is a tiny poodle. I found the absolute perfect size bowels and stand for her at Petsmart. It is a brown iron type stand with two silver bowels that sit in the stand but can be removed. It is the smallest size they have in this set. That is the one we use, and it is perfect for Bijou's size. They only sit a few inches off of the floor, but it is high enough that it is level with where she needs it to be to eat comfortably, an she doesn't have to bend all the way to the ground. It's actually perfect for her. Good luck finding one. |
Abby eats from a little rice bowl my daughter bought home from Japan, this one has a little "stand" built right in the bottom. Perfect- and cute too! |
I actually found a set at Walmart. Black iron stand that holds 2 stainless steel bowls. |

Hi Everyone, Thanks for all your helpful suggestions. I've very grateful. The shortest feeding bowls I could find were about 4" off the floor. As she is only about 6" tall, that would be too tall for her. In fact I just purchased feeding bowls called "just the right size", but the bowls are 4" off the floor and the bowls are too deep. It does seem to be a problem, finding the right fit. Perhaps I should go for kitten feeding bowls. I am having a handyman try and cut down the plastic legs of the "just the right size" feeding bowls and maybe they will be alright. I think I need something about an inch or two off the floor, and very shallow, as she is not supposed to bend her neck, because she is an AAI pup. Thanks for all your help. If anyone has any other suggestions I would welcome them. Thanks so much again, Shellie, Cassie, and Muffin |
Have you tried a brick ? I have found in the past when I have needed to elevate a food or water bowl that a plain old single red brick works perfect. If her bowl is too deep for her you can use a saucer or a kitty bowl as they are much more shallow then bowls for dogs. I hope this helps. |
If you can't find the right height. You can also make one. Get to small bowls and make a box out of wood. Cut out two holes that the bowls set into. Then you can make it the right height for your little one. It is pretty easy. We made one for a friends pup. |
