My Cali is an advanced obedience dog - will be 4 next month - weighs 3 lbs 14 ounces . She does ring obedience, rally, agility and tracking. I have trained her since day one with a buddy belt or chattiesmom's silk harnesses. In the ring harnesses are not allowed so I use a martingale for those times.
I notice trainers always telling people with small dogs that they should use a collar -- not true -- and indicates that the trainer is not familiar with small dogs.
Cali is also. Service dog - in fact that is where her training began -- she works for praise and the occasional treat - not because I am stronger than she is. I like. Dog that works happy, not out of fear :D |
