Kwigy Bo Questions
 

I'm seriously looking at getting a Kwigy Bo bag, but my concern is about the material: For those of you who have had one for a decent amount of time, how does it hold up? It seems like for that much money, it should be leather (at least, I would never buy a regular purse for my stuff at that price if it were not real leather). Then again, I can imagine a leather dog bag could potentially get more chewing from a dog....it sounds like people are very happy with their KB's for the most part. Anyone had any problems with the quality of the bag not holding up?

Also, is it comfortable for the dog to be carried around in this bag with their head out if you would like them to? Or, is this the kind of bag you would only use if you were trying to sneak them in somewhere?

Lastly, are the Alex and Alexa pretty much the same besides the types of pockets?

For me, personally, it's an ok bag. I wouldn't rate is great, although I it seems like many others on here would, but I'm not sure what type of purses line their closet shelves that they compare it with. And I do feel it is overpriced for what it is quality wise. But....it does look like a regular purse and I have been able to sneak ZoE in all kinds of places using them, so they serve the purpose I bought them for. There just isn't much out there on the market to chose from, but there is definately more for really small dogs than there is for larger dogs. ZoE is a teapot and there is no way she would fit in the nice real leather carriers I've seen...so the KB is my best choice.

I have one and I like it, but just okay, I agree with the above post that it isn't as great as I thought it might be for the money. My Zoe tries to stick her head out the top occasionally, but the way it folds in on her makes it hard. I recently bought another one that is about the same size, but it seems bigger because the sides don't fold in on her, but I like it because the end zips all the way open for those times you don't need to be discreet and don't care if she sticks her head out. I have found many items for dogs are higher priced then non dog items.
I used to be a purse snob... I always had a closet of prada, coach, gucci and the like. I guess you could say they were nice.. no I did not have hermes .. I did have one channel. Times have changed. so now I buy bags to carry my fur but.. who would have know:confused: So I do compare the kb to nice quality bags.
I think the kwigy bo is a nice bag for the money. Yes... I would LOVE a leather lux or puchi bag.. but at double or maybe even three times the price the kwigy bo is a good choice for me.

I didn't mean to come across snobby. I've never been much of a brand-whore.

My comment about what lines people's shelves wasn't in regards to name-brands, but more in regards to quality of construction. I personally don't own any of the above bags you mentioned other than Channel. I do however own a few italian leather purses that are excellent quality, construction, material, hardware & craftsmenship. While their price isn't cheap, it's not exorbitant and I feel the price is a fair reflection of the quality I purchased. I feel the KB price is inflated for the quality.

But, as I said, it's one of the better dog purses out there and it's the one that adequately serves the purpose for my teapot yorkie....which is why I have 3 of them (black, croc, & cream with snake handles) and spent my morning before work today eying the gunmetal one you had listed on your sale thread :D.

I was just trying to give a fair & honest review of the product based on the questions the OP asked.

I also like the Jaraden series of carriers...they're pretty too. Saw them on youtube.

My first bag will be the tried and true KB Alex.

I had to laugh at my comment... I was just " told" by my dd that I had to stop using a tote bag that had yorkies on it. It was from the Bradford exchange and I guess it embarested them lol. So diffent then my "purse snob days"
Now .. That bag is an example of low quality for the money!

I have been looking at some leather ones... I have seen some petote bags that look really nice. I guess I got the kb becaue i knew what I was getting. They are great..is there better..I guess it is our shopping duty to find out lol I just don't have the funds I used to for that ..so I will listen to y'all.

I am totally not a "purse snob". Ha ha. I don't care what my purse looks like or what brand it is. I don't change with my wardrobe and I will use it until it is wore out. :rolleyes: I hate paying high prices for a purse. But that is just me. So maybe that explains why I totally love the Kwigy Bo!! :D

To answer the OP questions.


1. Anyone had any problems with the quality of the bag not holding up?

I have not any problems with the quality of the bag. Mine still looks brand new.

2. Also, is it comfortable for the dog to be carried around in this bag with their head out if you would like them to? Or, is this the kind of bag you would only use if you were trying to sneak them in somewhere?

I guess it must be pretty comfortable. If I put it on the floor my Rosie jumps in and is ready to go. She will even curl up and fall to sleep in it. :)

I have used it many times to sneak her in places. They just think it is my purse.

This one I am not sure about. I have the Alex and it has four pockets, two on both sides. Shinja can you answer this one?

I personally love my KB and I am even thinking of getting another one. I have been very happy with it and Rosie seems to enjoy it. I think it really depends on what you are wanting it for. Mine is not used everyday; therefore, it is perfect for us!!

I am a semi "purse snob" and I "Totally" love my Large Black Alex, Kwigy Bo and would get another one in a Second!! I actually may get it in Brown..... !? :D

I use it All The Time.... at least 3-times a week.... and I have not any problems with the quality of the bag.... Still looks brand new.

Riley will pop his head out and look around at times, but he is usually laying down looking out the end of the mesh window...... He is between 8 & 9 pounds and I have no problem carrying the bag around.

I stated with a small black Alexa and sold that one and got a Large Black Alex.

I am flying in August and am trying to decide if I will use it to put under the seat in front of me, or if I should get a Sherpa?!?! Haven't decided, yet.

the alex is pleather and the alexa is nylon. I am thinking the nylon maybe cooler? idk.

Someone made a comment that one bag or one style will not fit everyones needs-- that is so true.!!! I have friends that have two or three different bags and used them at different times. I also have a kundel...at times it works best!
The main thing is to get the bag that fits YOUR needs and that you are happy with it!!

OOPS!! I started with a small Alex Luxe and then got the large Black Alex.
I wouldn't mind getting a Black Alexa

I saw the Jaraden carriers on YouTube a couple days ago. I kind of liked the Mon Ami or Petit Mon Ami carriers they have...but couldnt find anything on Yorkie Talk about them. I think the one thing that is appealing about the KB is just that I've seen a lot of people on here talk about them and it's always nice to hear about a product from other people who have actually tried it.

Do you ever feel comfortable leaving the flaps on the bag down? I always worry that it might be to hot and stuffy to do that.

I have left them down and Rosie did just fine in it. :)

I have owned two KB Alex bags for years now, and they have stood up well. I originally bought the putty color and the straps have started to peel. It is still functional, but I tend to use my gold luxe more. The straps are more heavy duty and seem to stand up better to wear and tear.

I use my bags probably 5 times a week and they look great. It is a bit snug, but they love each other, so they do well. When we go to pet friendly places, I let them stick their heads out, but they do fine when we are sneaking as well :)

I own 3 KB bags and really do like them but I am looking to diversify and find a new look so.....I'm also looking at the Mon Ami. Lil Sis here on YT sells them. Maybe you could PM her.

Riley and I went to a few places this a.m. and I had the flaps down and he was Fine...

So I ordered the large black Alexa from Ryan on the 22nd and it arrived, today, the 26th. That was FAST!! Here is Riley sitting in the new one with the old one beside it...

I LOVE IT! I Love my Alex.... but the Alexa is less bulky and will be GREAT when I walk him over to CVS or Starbucks or wherever around town. The Alex has 2 nice sized pockets on each side where you can put lots of stuff.... that one is great as an overnight bag.... I am sooo glad I got the Alex. Now I have choices. :thumbup: :D

I purchased my KB Alex bag from member Lil Sis here. It's terrific (and the service was spectacular!)

It's a very roomy bag and the pockets are great to carry extra stuff - like your wallet.

I LOVE my Alexa bag! The only problem I had was my little girl is still at the chewing stage so the inside harness strap didn't survive. Took it to a shoe store and they easily repaired it. Couldn't even tell where the old one was. BUT...little stinker chewed through that one too! Soooo I did what I should have done the first time and replaced it with a light chain using the same buckle. Looks great and no more chewing. I highly recommend Lil Sis if you're looking for this bag. Hope is 3 lbs and fits comfortably in the Small Alexa. We sneak her into quite a few places. : )

I am slightly embarrassed to admit that that I have indulged in both a Kwigy Bo (Black - Alexis) and a Jaraden(Green - SOHO). Wendell LOVES both of them, and so do I but for different reasons. The KB is softer, and lighter weight and I think it probably has better ventilation. But it's Black. I didn't like carrying it in the summer. And the other KB colors just weren't what I was looking for to carry my boy around in.

So to satisfy my own sense of style, I started looking around and once I saw the Jaraden, I couldn't talk myself out of it. It's leather, very sturdy and I LOVE all the extra storage space. I can actually get my entire bulky wallet into the side pocket (I have to move my cash and credit cards to a smaller wallet in the KB.) But it's heavier, even empty, and is much stiffer. And it takes a couple of extra steps to get Wendell in an out of it, since it has a separate cover that goes over the vented middle section. So first, he gets in and I zip it closed. Then I put the cover on, and snap it down. (only when we go into a store, I leave it open otherwise) But he doesn't seem to mind, and hops right into it now, just like he does with the KB.

I've had no problems with the KB looking worn - I've used it frequently for about a year and it still looks great. And I look forward to carrying it again once the summer is over.
