My Sammy Bag! :) 3 Attachment(s) I love this pattern! Ok - As many of you know - I know how to sew. BUT... I have never sewn a bag - lined and all. So here is the result.... I am going to be adding a snap in leash clip as well as some bling and a satin bow & buckle. I am so happy. I love this pattern from our fellow YT member Erin. I searched for DAYS on EBay looking for a nice carrier and then came across her pattern. It is for a 4-6lb pup so I did a couple minor things to make it smaller for the new baby coming home in a few weeks. I left out a center piece and adjusted the other pieces about 1 inch smaller. I do not have that scale option on my printer - it would have been easier but i think it worked out ok. My little rescue dog gizmo wanted to test it out - as you can see he is a bit big - he is 8lbs and with the bag adjusted smaller.. Well, he was still content. Pardon my comfy pants. LOL I will take more photos when I get the bling & bows added! |
Beautiful.....what a great job! Where do I get the pattern? |

Thank you !! I'm super proud. It looks like I bought it somewhere :P I think Once I have a name for her I might embroider her name on it or something like a crown. I got the pattern here... PDF Pattern Shop - Dog Under My Desk :: Dog Under My Desk |

Thanks so much! Now, I have to ask...is it hard to make? Keeping in mind, I'm not a skilled sewer ;) |
It really wasnt - I was scared being my first bag but it was only a few pieces. I used lots of pins just to make sure i did not mess up but my seams were a bit off with fabric stretching on the bag and I just trimmed it up when i matched the inner and outer layer and it was fine. I used an iron on stabilizer behind a light weight cotton and silk. I think it was easy enough that i will be making another in some fun pattern too so I have the fun bag and classy bag. :) Good price for the pattern since it is made by a yt mom it is sized great for our little furbabies & we can pick our own fabrics. Oh there were lots of photos and I did not cut right on the strap due to my fabric size i had on hand and just pieced two together to make one side and then cut so the seam was on top of my shoulder. does that make sense? She shows the layout of fabric and all the cuts etc. |
You did a great job! |

Does the pattern call for a d-ring or something to clip to the harness inside the bag or did you have to incorporate that yourself? Thanks so much, it makes sense and you have been so helpful. |
Wow! Great job! I love that material.:D |
It looks adorable! I'm so glad you decided to make it!! I didn't include harness clip instructions because it's a soft carrier. If you want to add one, you can add it to one of the seams in the lining or at the top of the bag before you sew the outside and lining together. Let me know if you have any questions! You can send me a message from the contact form on my blog or comment on any of my posts. Thanks!!! Erin |

I do own a snap setter so I will just add a snap to hold the ribbon (with a loop and a snap at the other end to attach to the harness). I also plan on finding some satin wide black ribbon and adding a bow at the front opf the bag where the strap meets the side. I was also looking at some bling ideas for a crown -I'm just not sure how it would look with the pattern fabric. I may just need to add some random hot fix stones :) Very nice style and great size - Thanks for the pattern. |
