Greenies and dental care Can I give my yorkie a greenie? She loves to chew things, and someone gave me one today for her. I want to be sure it is okay to give it to her. Also, what does everyone do for dental care? I try to rub her teeth with guaze and doggie toothpaste, but she doesn't like it, and I will admit I am slack at it. Any chewing type products that we can use? Thanks! |
You may want to do that with care and much research. Lots of people used to have blockages by giving their dogs Greenies. Some people still do. I would never give them to mine. Greenies claims they changed them and they no longer will cause blockages, but I'm not willing to risk my lil girl's life by giving them to her. If I give her anything, it has to be something safe and natural. |
What do you do for her teeth? |

My previous dog loved Greenies. Then I read there had been problems with them so I stopped giving them to him. I really don't know much about how they have changed. Maybe call your vet's office and ask first? I give Gracie bully sticks. They are very safe and most dogs love them. |
I was using Greenies until I had a talk with the owner of the pet store. When I asked it they were good for his teeth they said it's like doggie cocaine and recommended bones. I will say that Ruger absolutely loved Greenies. |
Our vet's advice was everything in moderation. They're pretty high-cal, but I read the nutrition label and was pretty shocked to find there wasn't ANY meat in them. Tallulah loves them and I've really seen improvement in the overall condition of her teeth. (We previously had really bad dental habits.) I've never noticed any blockage issues and she's a tiny three-pounder. It never fails to shock me how much she likes them as she's such a little carnivore and they're all fruit and veggie. |
