Stairs or Ramps to get on a bed? I have a pretty high bed and it seems to be hard for my baby to get on and its a long way down when he jumps off. I just ordered a set of pet stairs from drs. foster and smith. Does anyone else have them and does your dog use them? |
I just decided to make a ramp for harley to get on my bed bc mines pretty high too. The steps from drs foster and smith are really nice. They are the wooden ones with carpet on them right? |
Yes they are 3 wooden steps with carpet on them. I will try them out and see if he uses them if not I will try a ramp. |

Since Loki flies down 3-5 stairs at a time anyway, I skipped the stairs and just made him a "step" for the bed (He has no prob with the couches) I took one of those ready-to-finish craft boxes from Michaels and covered it with some batting and fabric with my trusty staple gun. I put it next to our very high bed to give him an extra step to get up there. He uses it like a trampoline and still comes bouncing onto the bed, but at least he isn't crashing into the side of it ever other time he tries to get up there. He still jumps off. There is no stopping my wild child! Just another option for you! And super cheap! |

I'm so glad you posted this- I was just looking at these! The website's links don't all work. The order form doesn't have a code for the free steps- is it automatically sent to you? I got nervous about the company when the links didn't work. What was your total for both sets of steps? |
I use steps that my husband made they work great. Cali has never jumped off the bed, we trained her to only use the stairs. She flies up and down them. |
We have one that is kind of ugly, but works great! Since only my husband and I go in our bedroom we didn't care to spend to big bucks. We just use a plastic container that you store items in that we never use so it wouldnt tip then we wraped a blanket around it so the dogs cant slip on the smooth plastic. Works Great!! Everyone caught on very quickly and would much rather use that than even try to get up by themselves...although none use it to get down! |
My bed is extremely high also. I just use ALL the pillows from the bed to make them a ladder. It works just fine and is very cushy. I have caught them sleeping on it many times. |

I use steps for Rowdy and had previously ordered some foam steps for $39.00 (which I thought was very pricy - with shipping = $46.00). Then I ordered the steps from the petsteps web site (the link worked for me last week) and I got them today. I got the 3-step ones and it was $59.00 total for both sets of steps (39.00 for the first set of steps + 10.00 shipping and then 10.00 shipping for the second free set of steps). They are nice and I'm really glad that I got them. We have wood and concrete floors and Rowdy cannot get good traction to jump onto the couch and chair with my hubby. Also, I don't want him jumping down onto the hard floor - I think it is too hard on his tiny legs - he's pretty little, 4 lbs. I think the steps are easier on his legs. He seems to love them and uses them all the time. |
