Bark Collar? Is there such a thing as a bark collar for a Yorkie? My dog is just out of control now and I do not care to leave her here when we go on vacations, I trust no one to watch her, but her barking would not make that possible. I can't even walk to my front door without her freaking out with her violent barking ready to attack. If company is here, we have to lock her away upstairs. HELP!! |
Are you talking a citronella or ultrasonic type bark collar or an electric bark collar? An electric collar is really kind of inhumane to apply to a 5 to 10 lb dog. There is some info on YT about the actual joules (amount of applied electricity) of these collars, and it is really inappropriate for use in toy dog breeds. |
Just came for advise and a solution. And for what is safe and what options I have. Expecting the attacks, but I am just looking for a solution. I don't know what you thought was attacking? Maybe my tone was lost. Sometimes tone is lost when typing, I know. I do not know anything about the citronella or ultrasonic collars. There are ppl on here that might know. I worked out the joules of using an electric collar on these dogs on another thread bc I would want to know the amount of electricity being applied to my dog if I was considering one of these collars. Ppl selling these collars tend to use nonspecific terms as "the shock is like a static shock on carpet" (as an example). I just think it is best to be armed with exact information before I make a decision. Just trying to help. |
Here's the thread where I worked out the amount of applied electricity. There was a discussion a while back where a poster was using an electric collar to train, and I'm addressing that thread and heated discussion in the thread link I'm posting for you. Please do not think I am directing the thread at you. I realize you are just asking what info others have, which I think is a very good thing to do before you make a decision. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/off...=shock+collars |
