shampoo/gromming supplies I have a 3 year old male yorkie and for some reason even right after he gets a bath he still stinks. I just use regular dog shampoo, and im not sure the brand, whats a good brand and type of shampoo to use and any other things i could use? Thanks(: |
I use Pet Silk, and I love it ! Don't use some cheap somes from the grocerystore, they dont work half as well. |
The first shampoos I used on Max were basic dog shampoos, one from Walmart and the other from Petsmart. Both left Max smelling like yucky wet dog. Petco carries Espree, Spa Fresh (I think that is what the line is called), and Tropiclean. Ordering online, I like Biogroom, PetSilk, and Vellus. Chris Christensen is great and most people like the scent, but it was too much for my sensitive nose. |
We use Nootie on the body and BioGroom Fluffy Puppy on the face. :) |
He shouldn't stink right after a bath. Is it maybe his breath causing it? I would ask a vet, because a dog shouldn't smell bad right after a bath, especially a Yorkie. |
The shampoo you are using could be the culprit. What is the brand? Many good shampoos out there, Espree is our favorite here. Has he smelled after a bath every time you bathed him for his whole life, or has something changed? What kind of "stink" is it, and has he been checked out at his vet for anything underlying issues medically? |
I use Vellus shampoo & conditioner on Bailee. :) |
I have only had in since january, and he is 3 years old. I have used the same shampoo since i got him, yesterday i bought greenie dog treats (the one ofr his teeth/breath) and bounce shampoo (i think that was the brand of it) And last night he got a treat and bath and today he is smelling good(: |
I use Tropiclean for puppies and it works great. It's an all green, no soap, oatmeal formula. |
I like to use Nature's Miracle Lavender Shampoo for sensitive skin (I got this at Petsmart). Just a thought, but when Rocks has an ear infection, whew! He stinks even after a bath. As soon as it clears up, he smells like his lavender shampoo again :) |

Ears are another likely culprit and the ear should have no smell to it at all. |
