Do you have a clipper recommendation? I am thinking about trying my hand at grooming Norman. Does anyone have a clipper recommendation for a 'newbie'? I don't want to buy something and then find out it is junk and have to buy again... Any recommendations would be appreciated.:D |

I use an Oster Golden A5 double speed. Only bad thing that I have to say about it is that it is a bit big for my little guys. But other than that I love it! |
I just recently purchased the oster professional care series from petsmart! I thought they'd be really cheaply made, but I am pleasantly surprised ! They cut very smoothly and the cutting shears that came with the kit are super sharp and easy to cut with. The only downfall is that the clippers will get hot if you leave them on for a long time. Since this was dex's first cut by me, they were on for a while :) |
I have used about everything they put out. Years ago when I groomed we always used Oster products. About a year ago I bought the Andis to try because it can be put on a lower speed which is perfect for Lexi. The yorkies, I have no problem with. Lexi is a min schnauzer and when we bought her she was show quality and her fur was soooo much thicker than my other schnazuers. The Andis is the only clipper I have found that will go through it on low speed. But, I would think either Oster or Andis would be a good choice. If you don't buy a good clipper you will find yourself having to buy and rebuy to replace. Its better to pay more and get a good one than some of these cheapies. Good luck and yorkies are not hard to groom at all. Not that much to do to them. |
Just read the post above and I would suggest you buy the cooling spray because you never want to put a hot clipper on your baby. They get hot pretty fast so you have to really watch. |
