Chris Christensen Brush? My puppy Romeo gets so many mats in his hair.. even thought I brush him every day... and it seems like right after I get one out he has another one in the same spot 10 minutes later. Right now I've been using a Boar Brush, just a regular comb, and a pin brush. I have such a hard time getting his mats out and after I finally get one out hes sick of letting me brush him...its so frustrating because I feel them all the time. I was wondering.. is a Chris Christensen brush worth it? and if I get one which one do I need to get? I THINK he has a cotton coat. |

Well mine all LOVE the CC brush!!! It is the first brush that I have ever had where my dogs would come to me if I was holding it and did not mind being brushed. I have the brass fusion brush and it works great. How often are you washing him and which products are you using. I had more problems with the shampoo and conditioner contributing to the matts and once I found one that worked great on my bunch then the matts stayed down. My Maltese gets horrible matts but using a leave in conditioner on him has helped a bunch!!! |
I use the CC wood pin brush and love it! Can't believe what we did without it. Cali does not mind being brushed at all with it. |
I don't know if you have tried the Maden brush yet but that may be another one to try. Mine were too used the the CC brush that they still like it but the Maden one did work on the matts and they come in different ones for the type of coat. Jenny, (Mimimomo) is a member here and she sells them and can probably help answer some of your questions. |

Use a good conditioner - PEK by Iv San Bernard is what I recommend and use. You will still have mats, but they will come out easier. You can use any good conditioner though and that should help. A good detangler spray will also help, you can use watered down hair conditioner or a product sold specifically for detangling. For puppy mats, I always use a teflon coated comb rather than a brush. After I've combed, then I brush. I like the CC pin brushes, their wood pin brush is gentle on the coat. The Madan brushes are also good. I have never used the CC brush but I do love the Maden brush and comb. I highly recommend using Maden! |
We love our CC Gold Fusion brush and we also have the wood pin brush. The wood pin brush glides easier through tangles, but I don't find it cuts down on static like the pin brush does..... |
I use ( and love) the PEK and I use the CC wooden pin brush because it is so gentle on the hair. With the PEK conditioner I rarely have mats/tangles that are very hard to manage. Cali is 2 years old and has adult hair. |
We love our CC brushes and also our Madan brushes.... and we use Biolage detangling conditioner which really helps with tangles..... just so you use it only on the body and not on the face..... must keep away from eyes and nose! (and every other shampoo we use a deep conditioner by Chris Christensen) Good Luck! |
Romeo is adorable. I use the chris christensen fusion and wood pin brushes on the cottony coated ones and the Madden on my 2 silky coated ones. I think good brushes make a big difference. |
