Puppy Bumper I would like to start letting my puppy out in the backyard. However, I am afraid she will somehow find a way to escape through the fence. She is 6 pounds now. The neighbors have a pit bull in their backyard which makes me even more worried. I heard about puppy bumpers and was wondering if anyone has ever tried them. Their website is www.puppybumpers.net. If not, I would appreciate any suggestions on how to let her roam the yard without fear of her getting hurt. Thanks. P.S. I will be with her outside and not just let her roam free. She is my baby!!!!!!! __________________ |

Unless these fit really tight or somehow attached to Ziva's harness, she would have this off in a second. We screwed extra pieces cross ways to the bottom of our white plastic picket fence and then wove screening material thru the fence. She hasn't figured out an escape route yet! |

Thanks for your advice. I don't know if she is a digger or not because I have not let her off her leash yet. The neighbors also had chihuahuas who initially dug holes under the fence. I think we will try what you suggested. |

My neighbor was nice enough to lay a run of extra patio bricks along his chainlink fence in case Ziva tried to crawl under. She has never bothered with them. |

Puppy Bumpers Puppy Bumpers connect to the pup's collar to hold it on securely. Most dogs don't even know they have it on...and lots of Yorkies use them. Ann Price President Puppy Bumpers, Inc. |

The one thing that worries me about the puppy bumpers is that they can still stick their head thru the fence. What is to stop the dogs next door from grabbing her and attacking her. I use gutter guards between the house and the fence or the fence and another fence what ever the case would be, to block any holes that are large enough for our Yorkies to get out. I also ran gutter guard the rolled kind along the bottom of my fence that would block them from excaping. |

I bought some very inexpensive 1/2"x6"x6' boards and ran them along the bottom of my Fence, and added some Hurricane Fence to my Gate. BUT, that side where the PBull is, would worry me, if one of mine could stick it's head through a space !!! On that side, you might buy a Roll of Hardware Cloth, and just wire the whole side. I think 1/2"x 24"x??' would keep it from being "captured" by that PB. |

Pit bull next door, I wouldnt let my babies out unattended, I'm too paranoid!. We put 6 in. face boards all along the bottom of our wood fence and also have kept other critters out , like the skunks. Ours are not diggers though.... |
