Nylon or leather collar/harness for pup? Hi everybody!!:) I am going to have a yorkie pup in a few weeks, and I am wondering if it is better to get a nylon or leather collar/harness for a small puppy?? I prefer the look of leather but maybe lightweight nylon would be better for puppies? |
I'm not a collar fan for my yorkies, but just to be cute, I did try some leather-ette cheapies with rhinestone initials on them, and they flat chewed them off! If you are (and you should) using a harness rather than a collar, leather is heavier, I would go with nylon. But if you really like the leather after your puppy gets full grown get a leather one too! I never leave a collar or harness on mine when I'm not around. I'm afraid they will get them hung on something and get hurt! |
The only collar I put on my girls is the rolled leather ones. Rolled Leather Dog Collars in pink, black, brown, and more! They don't mat the hair and aren not wide. Mostly they wear harnesses. I have only two types of harnesses, ones from Chattiemom and the Buddy Belt from funny fur. Buddy Belts, Buddy Belt Harness - FunnyFur.com |
Thank you for the answers! I will use a collar as well as a harness. I guess I ll start with the nylon and then once she is older, I ll get a silky one from Chattiemom or the ones from Buddy belt :) |
I like fabric collars because they are soft and more comfy seeming to me and I only use the collar for her tags. When she is going to be hooked to the leash I use a buddy belt harness that is leather. |
I just recently switched to Buddy Belts for my two. I love them, but I would wait until your little one is basically finished growing to purchase one. They are a little pricey, but so worth it. |
I don't use collars on my yorkies...however, I did buy buddy belts and leashes for each.....they are without a doubt the very best I've used! I love them and so do my babies. |
