Finally pinned what Minksheen smells like... Yes, this is a random post. But in order to help those that ask what it smells like, I decided to post. It hit me in the shower...lol. I recently purchased some Avon products to help a co-worker start her business. As I was putting on the body gel, I sniffed, and double checked to make sure I hadn't accidentally used minksheen. Nope, it was the body gel. I had my husband smell and he agreed. For those of you that need to know: It smells like Avon's original Skin So Soft oil/gel. Does anyone else agree? They're both supposed to be bug repellants. Perhaps that's it? |
I've never used Avon but have heard about Skin So Soft for years and years from co-workers but don't know what it smells like. Is it sweet or flowery smelling? |
I can't really explain it... Lol. It's not flowery at all. That I can be sure. |
It is supposed to be a cedar/citronella type of smell I think. Yes the woodsy smell of a cedar chest but very mild. |
Oh I hate the smell, it really works though, we used it all the time at the lake in Michigan, they brought out another scent in a pink bottle "Soft and Sensual", which I loved, but it didn't repeal the mosquitoes. I thinks it the citronella that has the strong scent. Thanks for telling me, Milksheen will not be on my "to buy" list. |
To me, they don't smell anything alike. I love the smell of Minksheen, while the smell of Skin so Soft...yuk! |
I like Minksheen more for what it does than the smell. The smell is ok, but I love the way it makes the coats feel. They are so soft and easy to brush after a bath. The smell is ok, I've gotten used to it, I don't know if they have, but it's all they have known other than what the groomer uses. I don't know what she uses but it smells really good. I've asked but she's never told me. |

The scent reminds me of Musk, which some people like in cologne and after-shave, but not so much for me. I prefer scents that are fresh and lightly floral. |
This may sound odd but I found I can add equal parts Minksheen & Johnsons' Baby shampoo then thin it with half water. Minksheen recommends thinning it with water anyways & I like that it's not so strong smelling as full strength when I add the Johnsons'. :) |

Ha...I just remembered...my son, a car fanatic, did his senior chemistry project on why baby shampoo is used as a floating agent in car window tinting. He analyzed the chemical components of every ingredient. Now you've got me wanting to go digging through his old school boxes...lol |
I started out really disliking the smell -- I get the citronella/cedar/marigold kind of smell from it. But now, I don't really mind it at all. I think I am used to it after a few years of using it on all my dogs. I think it is one great shampoo! Anything that enables me to stop using that Frontline Plus and still leaves a gorgeous shine is great! |
