Puzzle games? What are the best puzzle games for the pups? I have a hide a squirrel which he loves. Now I'm looking for something where I hide his food. Any suggestions? |
No one? |
Nina Ottosman dog puzzle is one I've heard is good. Tug-a-Jug is another one I've always heard good things about. Ummm... I can't think of any others. Jackson's not so much into these types of toys, he just seems not to care that much, LOL. Of course, Kong makes a lot of stuff too. |

I like the concept of the puzzle games, but after seeing them in person, I worry they would be a health hazard for my pups. Some have hard plastic shells that my boys would undoubtedly chew on, and almost all the puzzles are made out of something that looks like medium density fiberboard. While neither of my boys have chewed furniture or woodwork, I bet they would gnaw on those puzzles. That wouldn't be good. Tug-a-Jug has a rope piece, so that one is out too. |
We have a treat ball for Bailee. We got it many years ago while vacationing in Canada with our late Hutch. Bailee loves it when we give it to him. We put a couple of hard treats in it and let him play. Training Treat Ball - Peticious.com - Delicious Pet Supplies - :) |
The Nina Ottosson toys are great! |
We have the same treat ball as Judyest and Roxie loves trying to get her food or treats out of it. The great thing about this ball is that the opening can be closed to allow less treats to fall out. Love it! |
We have the Nina Ottosson puzzles and love them. They are pretty tough but they aren't meant to be played with unsupervised. They are interactive toys for both of you to do together. We also have the kong and hide a squirrel. The Nina Ottosson ones really stimulate their brain though. |

My girls also like the Aikiou bowl toy a lot. As you can see they tend to use their paws more than their mouths to move stuff around and open it: We won a tug-a-jug in a contest a few months ago, and I think it is complete crap, so maybe I am doing something wrong. I can barely make the treats come out and I know how it works. The dogs tend to lick end with the holes cut out, but I'm not impressed. I tried Zukes Mini Naturals (size of pencil eraser maybe) treats at first thinking they'd be a good size and they seemed too big and would get "squished" by the rope in the opening. I've tried Cocotherapy chips but some of the smaller pieces just leak out (not necessarily when the rope is being pulled). |
