Carrier Questions Gambit and I have a long airplane ride back to the states coming up, we finally got orders off Okinawa and back to the states!! I know that most airlines need you to have a hard sided carrier when they travel in the cabin and I've been trying to find a nice, hard sided one that has enough storage for his stuff and a few things of my own, not to mention I was hoping to find one that looked neat-not just the plastic one- with a shoulder strap. I was looking at one on thelittlewinduppup.com, the Black Lusso, but I can't really tell if it's hard sided. Does anyone know of any other site that might have something like that that's priced decently? |
Do you know which airline you are traveling with? You can contact them personally and see if you can have a soft sided carrier, and they will give you the exact dimensions that it has to be in for travel. Plus, wether or not Gambit will be able to travel in cabin with you. |
Relaxation Spray? We'll be on a few different airlines actually. I did some reading and it seems like I'll have to carry both hard and soft sided carriers along with me because some airlines say hard carrier while others say soft! Oh well, at least every airline we'll be on allows him to be in the cabin with me, the only one that doesn't let me have him under my seat is our 14 hour flight on ANA but at least he won't be in cargo! The hubby says it's probably best that way because then he won't cry because he can see me but not sit on me like usual. It's so stressful trying to set everything up and worrying about how he'll be on the long flight... My Aunt says that when she flew with her two cats from Austria she bought a spray that she sprayed in their mouths and it made them relaxed and sleepy but she couldn't remember what it was called. The vet said something about tranquilizing him but that scares me, the stuff my Aunt used was all natural and didn't knock the cats out so it sounds safer. Anyone heard of anything like that? |
I know you're looking for a hard side carrier but have you checked out the cellteis? They're great. It's more of a stiff fabric side carrier but they're nicely shaped, come in a variety of shapes and are excellent quality. I'd gotten one for another dog but it came back to me and it's perfect for Tabby. Downside is they're a little pricey. Here's one of those pheromone collars, there's different brands and sprays of the stuff too, just peruse your local pet store: http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=3191645 |
I use the Sherpa Deluxe carrier have flown on American with it with no problems. |
I have alsoheard of one called the sleepypod air. It looks pretty awesome but I've never seen one up close. In the video it shows how you can adjust it for under the seat in the cabin. |
Try these...all claimed to be airline approved Sherpa Pet Delta Air Lines Deluxe Pet Carrier - Airline Approved Pet Carriers and Dog Carrier from PETCO.com Pet Carriers Dog Carriers Airline In-Cabin Travel Pet Travel Store Cat Carriers Airline Approved Dog Carriers - Airline Approved Pet Carrier Also check out this site. You can see airline requirements by clicking on the name of the airline from the drop down menu Airline Pet Policies - Pets Airline Regulations |
You can take the softer carriers in the cabin. In fact, they are nicer because you can get a bigger one since they smash down when you slide them under the seat. Quite a few people I know who fly a lot with their dogs swear by the Sturdibags. Pet Carrier |
