Itchy skin Hey YTers, i have been using minksheen for a while... LOVE IT! but... honey is starting to get really itchy. i don't think she's got an allergy or anything, she just scratches so hard and leaves scabs.... Is there a good soothing shampoo/conditioner that anyone can recommend? minksheen says it's a soothing shampoo but i dont want to have to bathe her 3-4 times a week. is it time to change up shampoo's? any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!! :) |
It could be the shampoo. I had that happen with Chloe, but it was the food I was feeding them. I hated it because they were doing really well on it. I would try a different shampoo first thought. I also like using coconut oil. |
i'm just guessing that it's not allergies because she doesn't chew at her paws. she's very healthly. and she's been eating the same food for a while, wellness small breed. i'm a little worried about changing shampoo's because both of my pup's have 2 different coats. honey is really soft and golden, bindi's is wirey and really thin. so if i change shampoo's i'll use the minksheen on bindi and a different on honey. but i need to find one that i can use.. just a good soothing one would work. where can i find coconut oil?? and is using oil on their coats ok? cuz they look really greasy after using frontline plus (this is why i'm changing it to comfortis) |
I bought the Coconut oil from Ryan (RDB911) on here. I actually put a little over their food. I have also used the coconut flakes. A lot of people swear by the Salmon oil also. For me it's been a lot of trial and error. |
minksheen in the long run, was drying my girls skin is to hard for my girls, I have use a lot of shampoo and conditioners but in the long run, this one always has help my girls, I just diluted a little and put some a ;ittle drop of olive oil, coconut, almond, or sesame oil. You can find it in most pet stores. Oatmeal & Aloe Shampoo :: earthbath® - totally natural pet care |
I would try Espree Hypoallergenic Coconut Shampoo. It is all natural ingredients, lathers nicely, has nice fresh scent (nothing flowery) and should help with any itching. I use Minksheen for the most part but I also rotate in a couple of others including this one. I also like Esprees Silky Show Shampoo and their Luxury Remoisturizer. It almost makes Ben too soft! :D He has very silky hair and if it gets too soft it lays a little on the limp side but feels sooooo good! But if the Minksheen is drying a pup, rotating some of the Espree products in or just switching to them for a while should do the trick for you. |
