what are the best bones and toys for yorkies??? what are the best toys out there for yorkies?? and what kind of bones can i give him to keep him bussy?? he is chewing a lot!! he chews my kids toys has a lot of energy playing and walks isnt enough.... |
Bully sticks are the BEST!! Also homemade toys are great such as fleece braids and such. There are lots of YTers that make and sell GREAT toys!! |
For chewing ...my boys like the floss ends rope toys and bully sticks. |
I use my fleece scraps from blankies and beds I make and braid them. My dogs love them best! |
Ribs. (: They don't break, and it keeps mine busy for hours. |
I give Remy Purina Busy Bones and he LOVES them. It keeps him occupied and he doesn't chew anything else now. I also give him a Kong with peanut butter in it sometimes, it takes his mind off of chewing my shoes! |
My boy loves the deer antlers. They don't stink or stain the carpet like bully sticks. |

Definitely agreeing with suggesting bully sticks! Mine loves them. Also, the flexible nylabone is great! The semi-clear one and the blue one with little ridges worked well for my doggy when she was in her chewing stage. There's also a great toy called the Puppyfish, which is another chewy toy. As far as regular toys go... Kongs are great as well as these blue toys made by PetStages. I can't remember the specific line, but they're blue-colored bones or star shapes made of rubber. If your little one is chewing, stick to the tougher toys. Mine chewed a lot of her stuffed ones when she was younger, but now that she is older and out of that phase, she loves her plushie toys. |
I think in the first year you need to stick with things that will help your pup shed his puppy teeth. The rope type toys are good as well as bully sticks. My guys will do just about anything for a bully stick. For puppies I think the antlers may be a bit too big. But as they grow it may be a good item to try if they can chew thru the bully sticks too quickly. keep in mind to check all toys regularly and make sure they don't have any sharp edges they could get cut on. Also avoid toys that could rip and be chewed into pieces and swallowed. I have found that with my Yorkie once he gains access to the plastic squeakers thru the fur they have to be removed and thrown away. Also make one of your first taught commands "drop it" I personally think this is more important then sit or stay at the puppy stage. I worked on that very quickly after I dropped a tylenol in the floor and he snapped it up and I screamed to the point I freaked him out and he dropped it. You just never know. |

We use bully sticks too, but they are brown in color. I'm assuming that they make all kinds; is there one that doesn't stink when it is being chewed on, by chance? Khloe loves them but after she is done, she smells like it. |
Where can I buy a Bully Stick? Just wish I hadn't looked up what they were made of LOL :embarasse! |
