Using baby shampoo? Anyone know if using human baby shampoo is bad for puppies/dogs? I have proper puppy shampoo for her, but washing her in the Johnson's Nighttime Lavender stuff makes her smell way better and lasts longer. Just curious. Here's the product: Johnson's Bedtime Bath - 28 oz. : Target |
If it's made for a human, it is not appropriate for a dog in my honest opinion. We have a different pH balance than our canine friends. You can cause dry skin and irritation on our little babies. |
Baby shampoo is extremley drying on the hair, it is made for cradle cap in infants. |
My friend has been using it for years on her furbabies and they are fine with it, so I have been using it on Teegy and haven't seen a problem |
p.s. I dilute it in the bathtub like a bubble bath |
Baby shampoos can be very drying on a yorkie coat but I have used them before around my yorkies faces/eyes. Now I use spa fresh, it's designed to use on their faces and won't sting their eyes. |
Thanks guys. Does it matter if she has the more "human" type of hair vs the show hair? I don't know the tech terms, sorry. |
being a groomer and just seeing all the dogs that come in and their humans use baby shampoo it leaves their skin so damaged dry flaky skin i would recomend you dont use it. Try yorkie splash and shine it is designed for them and smells great and a yter sell it here. Wallnuthill is her yt name |
