Has anyone tried the anxiety wrap? I was searching past posts to see if anyone had tried the anxiety wrap and what kind of results they had with it, but the last post was in 2007. :) so I'm hoping that someone else may have tried it since then? What was your experience like? Did it help and if so how much? |
not sure what that is?? you have a link? |
I've never heard of it for dogs, so have no first-hand experience with an anxiety wrap. After reading a book by Temple Grandin - Animals Make us Human, I would try one if needed. In the book the author describes something similar she developed for the cattle industry. She used her invention on herself at first, as she has autism and found the gentle holding pressure would relieve some of her anxiety and symptoms. |

I have the Thunder Shirt for Morgan. It works really well for her and now i don't have to put it on as often. Morgan freaks out for thunderstorms, fireworks, loud bangs, high pitched noises, static charges in the air, and pressure changes in the air. she knows a storm is coming many hours (while its still sunny out) before the storm gets here. i swear she can just feel it coming. i put the shirt on her when i know a storm is coming, or at the first sign of distress. It has severely lessend her freak out symptoms. Before the shirt she would start with just wanting to be on top of you, then it progressed to shaking, then panting & shaking, then pacing, hiding, climbing into or under weird spots, all while panting and shaking heavily. now with the shirt she'll usually just want to hide between me and the couch or she'll go under the covers of my bed during a storm. for other things that scare her like fireworks or loud random noises i don't have to put on the shirt. she'll just come sit next to me and lay down. |
This is the wrap that I was refering to, but I have also heard about the Thundershirt. We don't get alot of thunderstorms where I live, but Sammie is just anxious and fearful most of the time (he's a puppy mill rescue). I'm just looking for more ways to provide him relief. The Anxiety Wrap™ - End Thunderstorm Fear - A calming product that helps Dogs & Cats overcome their fears and anxieties |
I have the Thundershirt as well and even though it does not completely take away symptoms, Diamond does not shake or pant quite as badly (mostly in car rides is where she uses it) as without the shirt. |
I have not tried the thunder shirt. I just use tensor bandages or what you guys may call ace bandages. I learned that from Tellington Touch and it is sheap and easy. For Bigger dogs you can use a T shirt and pin it tight. JL |
The anxiety wrap looks similar to the Thundershirt. The anxiety wrap, however, looks like it fits longer than the Thundershirt. I think they are about the same price as well. |
