Thanks Nala's mom... I'm hoping the custom bag turns out. I love the other two Angie made for my other dog. I still think the metro bag, esp the color you got and also the gold one, are stunning though. The carrier I use right now during my current dog's puppy/baby phase, has matching mesh on the bottom of the sides, almost the same as the Metro bag. I have been called on it SO MANY TIMES. Just last Thursday we were turned down at a restaurant, they saw the small mesh area and asked if there was a dog inside... they wouldn't even let us eat on the restaurant's porch area outside, with the dog in the ZIPPED UP BAG. They told us we had to go put her back into the car. We were out shopping and I was not about to leave her in the car, so we didn't eat !! This also happened in a movie theater - they saw the mesh part and asked if there was a dog inside and yup you guessed it they didn't allow us in. We have watched numerous movies in the same theater with my puppy when I used the other bag without visible mesh. My dogs are all very well trained and none will even make a peep during very loud movies or in restaurants. Even when other dogs lunge and bark at her, she will just ignore them. So, I was pretty upset, dogs can be better behaved than many children but they allow the kids inside. I never had this problem with the carriers that completely cover the mesh area - EVER. And I've been sneaking my dogs into places for 10 years! So, I'd have to either modify the Petote metro, or get the custom bag. I live in Los Angeles so we are eating outside at restaurants and shopping outdoors all year round with our pooches :) :) All my best to you and your gorgeous yorkie babies. PS. My Baby NARS is a Juicy Couture fan and she told me to tell you she loved the topknot :)!! |
Oh really. Wow! I've never been kicked out but I've also never tried to take my dog in a restaurant. I think restaurants are much more strict. But shopping is ok. I've only taken my dog to the movies once and it was an early showing so the theater wasn't packed. U can always take ur pup to the drive in theater. That's always fun. :) |
So cute! I have been eying those for a long time. Just wish they were in my budget! :( |

2 Attachment(s) This is the first bag Angie made for me. This was back in 2005 when her company was not advertising custom jobs - I emailed and she said she would do it. She gave me a huge discount so that she could use my dog's picture on her website. Angie emailed me a preview of the embroidery of my dog's show name that is on the bag before constructing the bag. I tried to upload that photo but its size was too big. The first piccie she was about 6 months old and we were in Santa Barbara. We ate at the fancy restaurant on the water that does not allow dogs (she was in the bag incognito!). Second piccie is of us shopping together in a GAP store. She was 3 1/2 years old. As you can see, the bag was VERY durable and still looked like new despite fairly heavy use for three years. It ended up Chorus did not get as big as I thought, so I had a second bag made in a different material but same style. I still use this bag, but more when we go to the movies and dinner, so she might be in the bag for a few hours. To this day, Chorus' piccie is endorsing this bag on Angie's website: Tote-o-Pet with Monogram for a Lovely 15 lb. Sheltie I am thinking the one I will get made for Baby Nars, my new youngster, will be more of a tote style bag because she likes to stand up more and peek out the top when I am shopping. It will be more narrow but same height. Something like the new Celltei Paws style, but with scalloped top like the Metro, and with different fabrics. And with a zip around top, and sides that can be used as an entrance so I don't have to ask her to hop into the top. I am going to wait a little bit though, just in case my puppy does not end up as big as I think she will be. Gennie - THANK YOU for your piccies, the black really is incognito. Have you had an trouble with it getting too warm inside the bag? I had that problem when I used a black bag even though it had mesh on all sides. But, I also live in So Cal where it is warm year round... I also used it at dog shows when I went to Florida. I bet it is great though in colder climates. I do love the metro, it is such a nice style and I hope you and your sweetie enjoy yours!! :) |

You have a beautiful dog and beautiful bag too! |
Thanx Nico! I am currently in discussion with Angie of Celltei, we are working on a new tote-style carrier based off her lightweight Celltei Paws to create a custom bag for my new youngster. Right now Angie is trying to figure out how to put the side doors so I have an entrance/exit instead of just a peephole. With such a narrow tote, she isn't sure how to not compromise the structural integrity of the bag, so is working on it. I'm thinking about a metallic gold with leopard print trim, or possibly the other direction with a casual, lightweight cream and gold that can be machine washable.... she is going to email me the different fabrics and see what looks good together. Will probably take some time... but that is Ok because that way I will have a better idea how big my new puppy is going to be as an adult. Angie really is good at what she does. |
Petote Metro Carrier Bag I'm looking for a carrier. How heavy is it? I want one that is light weight and great looking. :animal-pa |

You have to post pictures of your baby in their bag, I just love seeing them in their bags :D |
I agree about the weight of the bag. Leather bags will be significantly heavier than canvas, cotton, etc, and also leather is unwashable. Any metal bling is going to add weight too. The other problem for those of us who live in warm climates like California is, leather tends to make the inside of the bag too warm for coated breeds. Just something to consider. But, the Metro does come in non-leather varieties too! I repeatedly emailed Petote to find out the weight difference between the different bags, but they never wrote back. |
It kinda takes the fun out of bringing your best bud around, if the bag weights a ton. They are pretty though. Sharon |

Thought you guys might like to see my Celltei custom pet carrier - finally got around to taking piccies of it. The size is going to be larger than for a yorkie - since this is for a small sheltie. Length and height is in between the size of the Petote Metro medium and large, except for the width. I wanted it 1/2 inch wider so that it would not need to be balanced against anything or tip over onto its side when she turns around. I absolutely LOVE IT and it works wonderfully. 100% incognito with flaps on three sides and gold/cream mesh for ventilation. Fits under the seat for flights, and we have brought her into high end restaurants and also the movies twice already without any problems. Noone suspects a thing because it looks like a tote bag. Nars loves it, she is very quiet inside it, and even takes naps inside it at home!! It is a cream colored with gold sheen, and I also got to pick out the gold metallic trim and the flower buttons. It is also personalized with her show name: CH & OTCH Araton Foxglove Make Men Blush "Nars". It weighs less than the Sherpa medium and is 100% machine washable!! And get this - it cost $200 less than the Petote Metro sahara that I was looking at!!! Plus, since this was a custom job, I had the zipper open the way I want, and the side opening to be larger so it can be used as an entrance/exit - see video link below! Piccies attached. Angie and her team at Celltei are AMAZING. This was a difficult custom job but they did GREAT and I could never find anything like this on the market. Also, here is a link to a video: watch Nars get inside it and go shopping with me at the Gap!! She looks much bigger than the bag, but that is an optical illusion because she is closer to the camera. |
