dog beds!!? HELP! It's too hot! I live in Phoenix AZ and the days are long and hot. The AC is always on in the apartment but I can tell the dogs still get too hot sleeping on my bed...because they seek out an area on the hardwood floor and plop down. Anyone know a certain kind of dog bed that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to keep them cool? I want to avoid fleece material...because when I think fleece, I think burrrrr...it's cold outside. Thanks!!! |
I do not know of a vendor for "cooler weather" beds.....sorry. But I bought a silky type material at JoAnns and made bigger blankets that I put in all my beds to keep the pups cooler in the summer. |
How about a cooling bed or an elevated bed? Petedge has a couple on their website: PetEdge: Dog Beds |

I was going to suggest the cool beds too. I think the petstores have them, but the one at Petedge "Cool bed III" is only $35.00. It looks like more than one small dog could lay on it. |
Ooh, Yeah i like the Cool Bed III and $35 is NOT bad...not like those plug in type that are like $250!! Thanks guys. |
G.W. Little sells cooling mats they seem to stay cool for a couple days. My dogs love them. |
You could also just put the bed in a king size pillow case so they would be on cotton. This is what I do in the summer. It's so much easier to wash the pillow case also. If the pillow case is too small then you could just wrap it in a regular sheet or a crib sheet. |
I just use an old pillow (a flattened one from my bed). My dog loves sleeping on pillows so the second I throw one done she hops right on. The material of a pillow seems to not get as hot and she has plenty of room to stretch out. |
