Has anyone used the OUT product from Walmart? |
I use nature's miracle but since it's costly, I use a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 3 parts of hot water. I add essential oils to my mixture to cut the smell of vinegar along with 2-3 drops of Dr. Bronner's magic soap (available at whole foods or online). Depending on the room, I use different essential oils. I have only tile and hardwoods in my house and this works great. I also use the same solution to neutralize the smell of urine on my pee pads after use until I get around to washing them. Also, for carpets, vinegar can soften them up as it is a natural fabric softener. For added freshness, sprinkle baking soda on the carpets after a steam clean with vinegar and water and vacuum up. I throw essential oils in there too. |

It takes time for the enzymes to work. Usually, by the time it's completely dry, which can take several days, the smell is gone. Someone here recommended a steam mop when I first joined. I bought the Shark one and in conjunction with the NM, it really helps. |
I agree with the others... there is a sealer that seals out liquids on the grout. I don't have the sealer on my tile floors in my sunroom ... so the xpens are placed over remnants of linoleum in there. Good luck!! :) |
potty smells I just bought something new that works wonders. by Woolite its for blood, urine, feces. I have used it on carpets and the stain comes OUT and smell.Anything from them usually works. its a pet stain remover. Cheryl |
I also use Natures Miracle it helps but my little boy Calvin 8 months old, will still pee-pee on the floors sometimes. He is still learning. I used the disposable pads from Walmart for months until I came home one day and it looked like it snowed in the sun room. Now I use the XLarge washable pads from Petsmart and they are great. A little more work but better than cleaning up shredded pads. My 3 actually only use them to pee-pee on but only if they have too. Also brought in a un neutered male cat, (stray) who sprayed my bedroom carpet. The odor was so bad thought I would choke, but Natures Miracle took away all of the smell. He is now neutered and will only potty outside. |

I initally tried to clean with vinegar and hot water. I found that Lily strayed from using the pads after that. I have to wonder if the vinegar scent caused her to urinate wherever she smelled it. Not only do I use the Nature's Miracle, but I use the Shark steam mop as well. |

We have had success with Nature's Miracle too. Other products I like is the OxyClean for pets, but I use it when I wash my washable pee pads......it takes the urine smell out of them. I also use a product called Kennelsol for cleaning......I use it inside for spot cleaning after accidents. (But my original intent for purchasing this product was to clean my kennel area and my patio - where they potty when it rains.) It works great, but is best if it soaks a little while. Vinegar was suggested to us by a company that cleaned one of our rugs.....and it does work on material.....but I have not had much success with it on the floors. I also use the Steam Mop after using a cleaner on the floors.....it is great! |
Good advice, everyone....Well, I went to Petsmart tonight and bought the Natures Miracle...the right one this time. I hope the gallon size is big enough. :-) Naturally when i got back I checked the ex-pen area and it was clean. Took her outside and within mins of bringing her in she peed on the floor. So I get to try N.M right away. I'm hoping to get her spayed when she's old enough but by then I might have to move me and my sensitive nose!! LOL |
2 Attachment(s) Chloe is almost two and still doesnt have potty training down, BUT we got all new carpet and I've found the perfect solution! Instead of using potty pads I started putting a diaper on her 24/7. Don't waste your money on the disposable ones, buy a good pair of doggie panties (I prefer monkey daze they stay on the best) cut an over night maxi pad in half and put that in their panties. Don't just use the diaper of course bc that's unhealthy. I take chloe potty outside to potty, but when I bring her back inside I put her diaper on her incase she has an accident. She has been doing great since I've started this. This prevents any stains on the carpet and all you have to do is change the pad if they do have an accident. Here are two pictures of her in her latest pair with matching tank top. |
Someone mentioned marking spray. What is a good one? Scooter has a thing for a certain pillow on a sofa. I've tried everything but he likes to give it a little dribble to make it his very own. I don't want to get rid of the pillow because it belongs to a set on the sofa....but he only likes that one pillow. |
