Frontline plus cheap on ebay
 
Has anyone ever bought Frontline from an ebay seller? You can get a 6 mos. supply for under $20. The catch is that it's not in individual doses but a large tube and comes with instructions and accessories needed to properly measure out individual doses. There are a couple of sellers doing this that swear the product is not counterfeit and they have 99% positive feedback. Any help on this subject would be appreciated.:confused::confused:

I would be leary. Is it outdated? Is it counterfeit? (I know they say they aren't, but...) Is it legal? One thing to check is whether or not any legit sites sells the multi dose vials. If not, then it's more than likely not labeled or meant for retail sales (meaning not legal).

I use front line plus and love it. I wonder if it is expired or old? That would be my only concern. I always say if it is too good to be true than it probably is.:cool:

I use frontline plus on my big guys- When I'm fostering a smaller rescue dog, I usually measure out the amount needed for the dog's weight into a syringe and seal the remainder in a dark amber glass bottle that I label. I learned to do this when I was teching at the emergency clinic several years ago. Pretty common practice and VERY cost effective. I personally wouldn't purchase anything like that from someone who doesn't have 100% feedback though- unless the person who left them neg. feedback makes it a common practice of doing so.

Be careful as I would never buy these type of things on ebay as there are black market medications and that can be harmful to your dogs. If it is bad the little bit you save may cost you more in a vet bill :(

I would only get from my vet or drsfosterandsmith.com as I had to buy from there to get clindamyacin tablets and I asked a vet tech whose parents are also vets and she said that she would only by from there and not petmeds.com.

Most major manufacturers only sell to vets

From the ads I just looked at on ebay, that's exactly what they seem to be doing. Instead of it being a true multi-dose vial, it's a single vial of a dosage meant for larger dogs with a needle and an amber bottle. So basically, someone is selling off a dosage meant for their bigger dog to you.

In a vet's office, it would probably be ok because you would be going through the vial quickly enough to prevent much degradation. But would the same quality be present in month 5 as there was in month 1 if you were doing it at home? I don't know. A lot of medications break down quickly when exposed to air- even in an amber bottle, it still wouldn't be air tight.

The best person to ask about it would be your vet. Ask them to calculate the correct dose for you. If you get the ok from them, I would buy the larger doses yourself from a known reputable source rather than risking getting someone's counterfeit or expired meds.

I have 4 Neapolitans who get over the extra large does monthly (average weights 150-180lbs each) so it gets used quickly lol The rescues that I foster average staying 2-3 months (for the most part) and are anywhere from 20lbs and up. I've never had any amount stay in a vacu-sealed (should have mentioned that lol) amber bottle for over 2 months lol

ANY good veterinarian will show you how to measure/store the larger doses to use on a smaller dog so definitely buy it from a reputable source- Even the pet stores sell it around here. I luckily get discounts through my vet or trade it off in large animal work and/or training so mine does come from a veterinarian. I was just thinking that with the economy as it is, a lot of people are going to ebay and other sources to buy meds for their babies rather than doing without all together. If I had no choice, I would ask what the expiration date is on anything like that and if it was factory sealed OR I would get out the old flea comb and start checking the 40 acres of mastiff bodies :p lol

I started purchasing Advantage on eBay. I'm saving a little less than 1/2 price. It's individual doses that aren't out of date and look perfectly fine. I do admit that I'm sticking with one seller since I am happy and feel safe with his product.

I bought K9 Advantix w/ one seller on eBay once and I felt confident in the product. I've been using it for 6 months w/ no problems and keeping fleas and ticks away! :)

I have heard of what the OP is talking about, splitting it up with vials, etc, but I would feel like I don't know what I'm doing lol, but I'm horrible with that kind of stuff.

I just purchased this yesterday from ebay (frontline plus kit). But I'm going to consult my vet to make sure this is safe. The price savings is unbelievable. I paid $29 for 12 month supply.

You're suppose to use the syringe supplied and for dog 0-22# fill it to .67

The ebayer has a 99% feedback and tons of people swear by it...

I purchased from the same seller last year at the beginning of summer (when our flea problem usually starts). The Frontline Plus I received has an expiration date of July 2011 and has worked just as well as any I've purchased through our vet, 800 pet meds or even the Australian place.

I did check with our vet and although they would prefer you purchase from them, she told me what I was doing is just fine. She understands with the number of dogs I take care of (my dogs, my sons boxer and lab and then my fosters) I need to save when I can.

Now, I don't purchase heartworm preventative from anyone but licensed US sources.

Agree with you on the heartworm...that should only be purchased from a licensed US souce..

Too risky (imo).
If it was a store like entirelypets selling through eBay, I'd be fine with it.
I wouldn't be okay with individual sellers.

There is no way to know if it is legit and if it was kept according to package directions.

And Frontline does not expire if kept in the correct packaging. So why would some of this carry an expiration date? And if they changed the packaging and it now can expire, who comes up with the date on which that will happen?

Not worth it to me...

Much rather get a larger container from a reputable store or a vet and have vet help me dose it.
