Pet Carriers? Thinking of Bergan? Ok so I also posted about this in the Yorkie products part of the site but because I have to make a decision soon and perhaps more people see the General Yorkie Talk posts, I decided to post here as well....sorry for the double post!!! I wanted to ask if anybody has heard of or used the Bergan comfort pet carrier? I'm thinking of buying one for Ruby so she can start getting used to it and I can use it on car rides to our summer house....I would be using it in July to bring her to the US too (on a trip with two connecting flights and a total of 12 hours-quite a long time!). So I need something sturdy and comfy at the same time, that fits under the airplane seat!!! If you have a bergan-please tell me your pros and cons! If you don't but have traveled with your yorkie in flight, which carrier do you have? And how big is your yorkie? Ruby should be no more than 4 pounds, she's now only 10 weeks old so I can't be sure...I was going to buy the SMALL Bergan carrier... Thank you so very very much and again sorry for the double post! I just need to buy a carrier soon (like in the next two days) because it has to be sent to Greece by the relative who gets it in the US and it'll be a long time until I get it....Thank you!!! :) |
I don't have that brand carrier but have two others, Ultimate Carry Den and one Eddie Bauer carrier, either would fit under a the seat. I like the Ultimate Carry Den bc it is sturdier than the Eddie Bauer, but then the EB has wheels and is easier to use in airports. Sorry not much help here, hopefully someone else will see this and have a better answer for you. |
Pet Carriers I do not have that particular brand so I can not offer any pros/cons. When I flew up to Columbus OH to adopt Spike(now Zipp) I went to Petsupermarket and got a soft carrier for around $40 and a blanket to keep the old guy warm. He was around 7 lbs then(now 8+) and taller at 11 inches at the shoulder so I had to find one to keep him comfy. The ticket folks asked if he was ok in the crate. The main thing is to ask the airline(s) what are their size limits. It could depend on the type of aircraft, especially if you are going to have to switch airline carriers/aircraft type. Also, check and see if the airport(s) are pet friendly. Columbus OH had a potty area at the end of the arrivals/departure curbside area which we used while waiting for our flight to Atlanta GA and connecting flight to Melbourne FL. |
i did have this carrier and used it for an airline trip (round-trip). i found it overly large and 'structured'. it doesn't squish up very well, although it easily goes under the seat. the dog had ample room for movement, and was able to stand and move around, and there was a lot of ventilation, which was great. the dog didn't overheat/pant. if you're looking for function over style it's an ok choice. there was also a touch-type slot so even though you can't open the carrier during the flight you could put your hand inside and feed and pet the dog, that was a cool feature |
I just got these carriers in if you have more questions about them. |
