Who has a collar on their Yorkie? Why did you choose the collar over the harness. Isnt the harness better. I'm just asking and not trying to bring you down:D |
I have a collar for my boy but only to hold his tags and bell, when we go for our mini walks (he's only 11 wks) I use a harness... I would never use a collar to put his leash on b/c of the yorkie's sensitive neck...;) |

Sophie Kate has a collar and a harness, collar is on at all times and never used for walking. When we go outside she is always on a leash and the harness goes on along with the collar staying on (no tranferring tags). |

I use a collar and a harness for Callie the collar is only for her tags and I use the harness when she is going to be on the leash. I never ever hook the leash to the collar. |
same here, maddie,- even being a 9.5 teapot uses a harness--she wears a collar, but only for tags. |

Jackson has a collar on 24/7 with his tags, and for walks, we slip the harness on but leave the collar on as well. |
Same here. Collar with tags on 24/7 and always use the harness for walking. You never know when you may need to pull them in in an emergency and I prefer to be safe rather than sorry. |
Sophie also has a collar 24/7 because she needs somewhere to put her tags. We use the harness for walks and to attach to her carseat.:) |
collar My Rex has a collar on 24/7 i mainly use the collar but at times i use a harness. The vet told me i can't use a harness untill he's over a year. He's only 10 months old now. But i have noticed that he dose pant a bit with the collar. Which is best. |

Sadie Mae has her collar on 24/7 which is there to merely hold her tags. When I walk her, I slip her harness on also and attach her leash to the harness. :aimeeyork |
collar Yes i was told that a harness pulls on the front muscles and deforms them. So if i use a harness on him i also attach the collar. I think i will be getting him more use to the harness. Now just to find one that will fit over his coat's. Thank you for the welcome hope to find my way around soon.:) |
i just got a 5 yr. old yorkie and the owner told me to use a harness because of her neck. |
I also use a collar 24/7, but only for tags. For walks, she also wears a harness for attaching the leash. I want to make sure that if she ever gets away, she has ID on her. I also like that her ID tag and rabies tag jingle when she walks/runs, so I can hear where she is and I don't accidentally back up and step on her. |
saying all that, you are making sense. i got my tags so i will go get her a collar. i do want someone to contact me if something should happen. thanks |
collar with tags all the time, harness for going outside to potty/walks... |
My babies have both, collar and harness. They don't like their collar so we rarely put it on, but I want to start leaving it on though. I use harness for walks or any other outtings. We have SEVERAL harnesses =) I actually just bought a really cool type of harness. The harness if connected to the leash so it's convenient and you can adjust the size of harness too, so they basically won't grow out of it. I can't seem to find it online though... |
I kept forgetting to put Darwin's collar on when I'd go for walks, so I decided to put the tags right onto his harness. This works really nice for us and I know I won't be forgetting his harness! |
I bought a collar and harness for my girl, Farrah. The collar for tags and harness for walks. I found a terrific step-in harness online that adjusts over anything or nothing. Now for my funny story...when I first put the collar on Farrah at 12 weeks (when I got her) she wrestled with the ID tag all over the floor. It was sooo funny but she could have gotten hurt. So, for now, no collar just harness. Good luck! |
My Yorkies have collars to hold their tags and Identichips. They have these because I only put their harnesses on when we go out. Hugs Shirl x x |
Buddy has a harness because he has a collapsing trachea and a collar is bad on him he will hack, He loves his harness I keep his tags on it for when he goes outside, I also like the harness because you are in more control when you take them for a walk |
collars 24/7 with tags. They don't like it when I take their collars off. Harnesses go on in addition for everything else. The harness doesn't touch the collar so it in no ways interferes with it. You can find coats and shirts with little buttonhole type cutouts made specifically for the d rings, then you can put the harnesses under their clothes, if you like. I've read on here where once in a great while a furbaby escapes from the house when no one is looking and gets lost, it would scare me to have their collars off, even in the house. Thank goodness they love to wear them....I love the jingle of their tags. |
We use collars 24/7 with ID tags. When we go for walks, we put their harnesses on -- the harnesses have a second set of ID tags and their rabies tags on the collar. I'd like to put their rabies tags on their collars but the tag is german shepherd sized so it's kind of heavy for them so we put it on the harness. I ordered tags that have an 800 # attached to them along with my local #s so that if something happens while out of state, people can just call the toll free number. Luckily, we've never had to use any of the #s. |
My pups always have their collars which have their tags. They wear their harnesses for walks but they usually just keep them on 24/7 too lol. |
I use the collars for tags and the harness for walking also. :animal36 |
