XPens - Where do I get one? So, I am trying to get prepared for our new puppy. I have read that people put their puppies, their crates and peepee pads in an Xpen so that they have room to roam without getting into trouble. Where did you buy your Xpen from and what brand Xpen did you get? I plan on setting up the Xpen in our family room so that she is not without company. Our puppy will also be able to run around the kitchen (which will be gated) when we are in there watching her. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :animal-pa |
Petsmart and Petco carry them but you can sometimes get them cheaper on line at places like Petedge or Foster and Smith. When do you get your puppy? |

I love my Seabreeze pen. Some of the X-pens out there are just so heavy. I traded my Midwest pen in a few years ago and would never have anything but a Seabreeze from now on! SeaBreeze Petite Pens - A lightweight solution to heavy exercise pens |
I got one ex-pen from ebay for a better price than Petco/Petsmart, you might check Walmart though - at the time I didn't think about them. Also check Craigslist - you would be surprised - I found one on there that I use now outside when needed, so I don't have to be moving ex-pens back and forth. |
I just bought one tonight at Petsmart. Its normally $89.99 but if you sign up for the Petsmart pet perks card (its free), its $79.99. Its called "Pet Yard XT". I set it up, it seems pretty sturdy. Hopefully I'll bring Max's little sister home tomorrow :) |
1 Attachment(s) I have four. Three wire and one cloth. Got them all thru PetEdge. Here is how I set just one up for puppies in training and operations. I attach the pen to the front of the wire crate. You can see how much room there is for water, pad and toys. This is the three wire ones I have: PetEdge: ProSelect Goldtone Exercise Pens |
We got ours at a tractor supply store! It was cheaper than Petsmart. We paid $39 - 3 ft. high. Good luck! |

Thank you all so much...I love the pictures showing how you set it up. I checked out walmart.com and I will be going to our local pet stores today to see what they have since I will need it in two weeks. I will let you know what I find. :animal-pa |
Petco. Order online and the pen is not only cheaper, but you can also get free shipping. |

I checked all over and could not find one less expensive than this one. I actually went to our local petco store and they wanted $109.00 for the exact same item...and it had been reduced from $130.00 - petco.com has it for about 89.00 but it is still alot more expensive. I chose walmart.com and had it shipped to my house for .97 - cannot beat that. Thanks so much for all your help. I chose this one because I think the metal pens will scratch my wood floors! You guys are just so awesome! :animal-pa |
I can't remember what brand it is (I threw out the box), but I just bought a wire one at Tractor Supply Company for 1/2 the price of what I saw at Petsmart. They also had really cheap wire crates, but most were a little too big for my pup. If you have a bigger dog, though, that's the place to get them! |
We got ours at PetEdge: PetEdge: Pet Yard Exercise Pen |

that is great to hear you went with the ones i have...lol...i actually bought 2 and took them apart and have me 3 squares...now mine knows how to climb and jump over it so I am going to sew like a heavy cloth type cover for the top....because it doesn't work if they can get out of it right? lol |
I actually thought about ordering either another pen or the extension kit...but figured that I would wait until it got here and I can see how big it is. BTW, the shipping to my house was only .97 so I had it shipped home. Thanks again for all your help. The metal ones look great and not easy to climb, but I have wood floors and I am afraid it will scratch them. :animal-pa |

I bought three of them set up in different locations at home, they seem to like the hexagon shape, I do too :)as I can place them in a corner. I know how anxious you are for your new little one to come home, I sure miss getting in to read the forums these days, I do try to get in to read our profile and pm's daily. Look forward to hearing about homecoming of your new baby. Getting a furbaby is so exciting. Hugs, Patti and Jack and girls |
Which type of pen is better for baby Yorkie? I have already ordered a play yard type enclosure for my baby (I don't get to bring her home until mid April, when she will be 8 weeks), and I am wondering if I got the right type. The one I purchased is a North state Superyard from Walmart (and also Petco & PetSmart) Walmart.com: North State - Superyard XT Portable Playard & Gate: Gear. I see a lot of people have purchased the Xpen or the SeaBreeze Petite Pens - A lightweight solution to heavy exercise pens. Which one is better for a baby Yorkie??? I don't want to get one that will hurt her if she chews on it. Can someone out there please give me some advice? I am a newbie on Yorkies. Thanks, Sheri :) |

Do you have any problem with them chewing on it, or getting stuck anywhere? I don't have my baby yet. I will be able to bring her home mid April, when she is 8 weeks old. I am just trying to get everything I need for her, and have everything setup before I go to pick her up. :) Sheri |
