I love the washables, I have about 5 of them and I wait til all are dirty and wash them all at once. I dont think I could wash them with my own clothes but I have no problem washing them in my washer together. So much better than disposables. |
I use washable pads. I wash them about four or five at a time. I first run them through a pre-wash cycle without detergent (you could use a short wash cycle if you don't have a pre-wash cycle) just to rinse everything out. Then I run them through a regular wash cycle with detergent and dry on medium heat. I wash them separately from other clothing, etc. If there is soiling I just pick it up and flush it. If it is soft I wipe off what I can with tissues and flush it, then wash the pad. When I am waiting to have enough pads for a wash I fold the used pads in fourths with the dirty side in and stack them next to the washer. (My washer is in the garage). When I have four I do a load. This contains all the smell that may develop over time. |

Although I did not buy pads from YT member RDB911 I wanted to let you know that he (Ryan) is a pleasure to do business with and his prices are good. You might want to PM him for prices. I use disposable ones as there is a high water table where I live and the cesspools fill FAST! One good rain and they are full of ground water. So I envy all of you "washable" users!! : ) |

I love the ezwhelp used washable pads. They are thick and absorbent and look like new. Reclaimed Pads After washing many a diaper when my skin girl were babies, washing pee pads does not bother me. I just use detergent and bleach when I wash them. |

I think it's all personal preference....I wouldn't want to wash the pee pads in my washer and mine doesn't use one enough so I couldn't just wash one at a time (and I wouldn't want to store them up until I had enough). I prefer the disposable ones. Also, if they are used to the disposable ones it's good for travel. I'm not sure how you would take the cloth ones on vacation (not sure where you would wash them). Also, I feel like if I used cloth ones it would confuse her and she would think she could pee on area rugs. |

No way would I ever buy pee pads I had to wash. :D I like just throwing them in the trash and be done with it. Easy to travel with too. I also like conserving on water, electric and soap. ;) |

I use disposable pee pads. Honestly , I just didn't want to have to wash the other ones :) I use the pee pad holder with the side locks and hard bottom so there are no leaks. I change her pad about three times a day and put a fresh one in her pen at night... I also will just pick up and flush the poo so it doesn't stink up the place. |
I use waterproof crib liners. they last longer and are washable. I just pick up the poo and flush it. I wait until I have a 1/2 load full and run them threw a rinse then a wash cycle by themselves. just like I did with the cloth diapers for my son. I only use disposables when traveling. As far as the ecology goes, you either add to a land fill or use water, which is worse? I don't know! :rolleyes: Donna |
