Breath Freshner Hello! I brush my dogs beath every day and still he has an odor. Vet says he has nothign wrong with him, any ideas on product sot use that will freshen my babies breath! |
You could try a mint toothpaste, if you don't already. I use CET vanilla-mint enzymatic toothpaste and I like the results. You could try brushing his teeth after breakfast so it doesn't smell for the main day. Again after dinner if the smell really bothers you. After daily brushing (I brush well and get every tooth on all sides) and use of CET toothpaste, I do not notice a smell in Scruffs breath. I have also just started using CET hextra chews and bully sticks (gets one or the other, once a day). |
How old is your dog? I found when Sophie still had her puppy teeth, no amount of brushing took away the bad breath. Once she lost some puppy teeth and had the remaining ones extracted during her spay, the bad breath went away. With daily brushing it should stay away. I recommend Petzlife Oral Gel or Spray. This product can be brushed onto the teeth or simply spread on with your finger. It kills bacteria and does a fantastic job on removing plaque. I've not found it at PetSmart or Pet Value, so I order mine online. It's a bit more expensive than the stuff in the discount stores, but don't let that scare you away. You only need a pea size amount. It will last for a very long time. |
What kind of food does he eat? My golden retriever used to have the worst breath, until we stopped mixing wet food in with her kibble. The difference was night and day. |
Hugo will be 1 in January! |
Hugo eat eukanuba! |
Has he been neutered? That's usually when they do teeth removal. Scruffs had retained baby teeth but when they were removed his teeth still stank and had a lot of plaque. After daily brushing it finally went away and doesn't smell. Also, Eukanuba isn't a very high quality food so that might be why his breath smells. Look on dogfoodanalysis.com. |
