PediPaws Nail Grinder I am stunned. I got this yesterday and I am sooo happy with it. I have struggled with keeping Scruffs nails short forever. I used to clip them every 3-4 days because his quicks were so long and I could not clip them any shorter or they would bleed. This thing didn't make them bleed. They are now short enough they don't make sound on the hardwood!!! For the first time in his life!! It is so much easier. It was so annoying clipping his nails so often and they would never be short enough (dogs with long nails is a pet peeve of mine). I highly recommend this product, plus it is only $12 at Petsmart now. It didn't have much power and if you press too hard it stops, so I don't suggest this for any dog bigger than 15-20 lbs (depending on the nail size). This is a Yorkie site so most people have dogs this size. |
so the sound does not scare your yorkie??? i may have to try it. |
It was no worse than the nail clippers. Scruffs makes this ear piercing cry when you hold his foot and he knows you are going to clip his nails, but he is just a baby. If he gets knocked over or if the groomer is cutting his hair he makes that same sound. It was actually very quiet compared to what I thought. He just needs to get used to it. |
sweet! I saw this at Bed Bath & Beyond while I was browsing Christmas gifts for Jax. Jax also hates getting his nails clipped and its one heck of a job trying to hold him still enough to get them done. I might have to grab it and give it a try! :D |
They lowered the price to $12 at my petsmart, and usually it sells for $20. I debated getting for so long, I decided I would finally try it :). |
TRy Ross too! I think I Saw them for a bit less. |
I've been using mine on all of my babies. Since I first saw it at Walgreens. I paid $20 for it then. I've been using mine for about half a year or more! They don't move or squirm. They hate me when I'm done though! Lol! As long as it's near me no one will come close! |
I've had mine for a while and it's easy to use once you get used to it. Think it depends on your dog and how you introduce it to them. |
Emmett hates it. I even tried the "get used to the pedipaws" training that came with it. :( Waste of 20$, the nail clips were better. |
Actually I have a coworker that bought one today for $7.99 in Marshalls I'm going to see if I find one tomorrow. I really want to try it. |
All my furbabies Hate it !!!! I try and I try and it didn't work for me, the dogs Hate it and it's loud and I try it on my nails, and it didn't feel good at all. I had 2 of them one I got at Bed bath and beyond and got 20% off with their coupons. And My daughter gave the furbabies one for x-mas, which I still have in a new box. The one I got I gave it away to a friend and her dog did good with it. So like everything else, some will enjoy or like it and some won't. I'm back to clipping their nails. If u have a Big Lots by u, I just saw them there for $ 9.99. bark@ulater !!!! manina, miley:aimeeyorkmax:aimeeyork |
I returned mine . . .bought it at CVS when it went on sale 9.99 and brought it back . .. there was no way and no how that my furbutts were having any part of it . . .I would of loved to save the money by doing their nails myself, but it just didn't work out that way for me. I think it will depend on your individual dog . . .I can't even clip their nails . . .off to the groomer for $5.00/each time . . . |
Well I guess it depends how used to clipping dogs nails you are. I clip dogs nails every time I pet sit for them, unless they are short already, which only happens with Ally (one of the many dogs I watch!). I am used to dogs whining, squirming, scratching, etc. Scruffs doesn't like the Pedipaws, but I LOVE IT. He still squirms, and whines more than the nail clippers, but he is just not used to it yet. I am more suggesting this for people who know how to clip their dogs nails already and do it themselves, but their dogs nails grow super fast or they have long quicks. I tried it on Scruffs best friend (my best friend's dog, Oscar) today, who is a Pug, and he was totally fine with it. He isn't too bad when I clip his nails, but like Scruffs his quicks are super long. It isn't going to be super easy, but for me, it took the stress of knowing his nails are always too long off of me! As I said before, dogs with long nails is a pet peeve of mine. |
I paid $10 for it at CVS. I was so excited to use it, but Ella wasn't. She was terrified of the sound even after using it a few times and i just wasn't that impressed w/ how it cut her nails. I ended up taking it back. Her nails don't grow that fast so i usually just let the groomer do it anyway. |
Hubby tried it with Gypsy and she hated the noise. This is the furbaby that sits perfectly still with the groomers. I will continue to pay for the vet tech to do them. |
We tend to clip first then round the nails with pedi paws . Sunshine is pretty good bout both methods . Took a while to get him used to the noise ,now I ask him if he wants to Dremel and he gets all exited about it .......... must be the treats that follow :) |
After reading the excellent tutorial at DoberDawn.com (link at bottom left to How To Dremel Dog Nails) I am sold on filing vs clipping, and happened to have one of these kicking around I use to label housekeys. It is not loud enough to be scary and not strong enough to do damage (never apply pressure! and if you do on this it won't spin anyway). Following Dawn's introductory process, we have managed to find some of Frisco's nails and zip them even though he resists personal meddling. Of course he made me do mine too so he could watch. I guess I'd recommend something like this unit, because you can always use it to label housekeys if the dogs don't like it. It's nearly the same price and comes with a lot of spiffy tips. ![]() |
