Adams flea products? I know that everyone says how horrible over the counter flea preventative things are. I searched and searched last night about this brand Adams specifically, for flea collar and drops specifically. I couldn't really find anything that has been reported bad from this brand, unlike Hartz that has tons of bad about their products. I know that it is not ideal to use any of these products, but until I can get to the vet for a real flea preventative, would using a collar temporarily be OK? Does anyone think it would be cause of alarm as a temporary solution until getting to a vet? Has anyone had any experience with other Adams products like shampoo or drops? I know that a lot of people will say they are bad because of 'pesticides' or whatever, but on the same hand I also have read many posts here on YT on how Frontline and Advantage are bad, also. So I just want to know, for a short term and not long term would Adams be OK? |
I purchased the neck treatment for temporary use because I found a few fleas, and wasnt able to get to the vet right away, however, I searched reviews about the product after I had already used the drops and found a few scary stories that worry me and i will no longer be purchasing it. I read that it has caused seizures which aren't common, however, its not something i would risk. Spend the extra money and purchase frontline. I've never had a single problem with that. Another negative about the Adams brand, is that it made the hair on my yorkie extremely greasy within a matter of minutes. This is not a product I would recommend. -KelseyFayex3 |
You know, years ago Adams fla products were sold in vet's offices. This was before Frontline and all the other stuff vets offer now, think 20 years ago. I remember because at that time I owned Westies and we bought Adam's products for them to use. We never had any problems. But again, this was YEARS ago. Now I use Frontline on Ruby. and you can get Frontline almost anywhere. I buy mine at Costco. Leslie |
I have used Adams Flea spray before on beds that can't be washed and on carpeted areas when we still had carpet. I liked it because it killed all stages of the flea for up to 3 months. I made sure the dogs were not in the house when I sprayed it though, just so they wouldn't have to breath the fumes. I wouldn't use a any flea collar. You could bath your yorkie with Dawn dish washing detergent to kill any fleas......then Monday get to a vet or somewhere to buy other flea meds. |
I have used Adams carpet powder a few times when I had an infestation and it worked great. I would never use Adams or any other OTC flea products directly on my pet, though. Many vets will sell you an individual vial of Frontline or Advantage for about $12. |

We have used Adams spray on our outside dogs and never had any problems. I have never used it on Rosie because her skin is so sensitive. |
