Need a 15 foot gate/fence for family room We are the proud owners of four yorkies. Our girl has a special "attraction" to carpet. She loves to pee on it. So, before we replace our carpet in our family room, we need to get a gate/fence that will prevent from our princess pees a lot from the new carpet. The rest of the area is hardwoods and she will then use piddle pads. Any help would be appreciated. |
You might have to put more than one together. Here are some specialty gates from extra wide to free-standing: Pet Gates, Free Standing Pet Gates, Mesh Pet Gates and Many More Pet Gates |
Thank you, I will have to check it out. We are currently using a gate that is originally intended as a run. Our smallest yorkie can slip through some slits in gates. |
Might see if there is a carpenter around that would custom make what you need out of wood and insert something like chicken wire or other small fencing material. It might wind up being a better fit and less money. |
polyvinyl collapsible xpen can be used as a long gate. We got ours at petsmart (the same one was twice the price at petco) it is collapsible for storage or transport, but that also means that you can just extend it out as a fenceline. You can buy additional panels and make it as long as you like. Just go to petsmart and find whatever type you want with the capability of adding panels. They are not offensive looking in the white polyvinyl my girls have been in it since under 1lb and have never been able to slip through any part of it. it's made for dogs. You'll be able to check all parts of any type you choose at the store. |
There are a couple baby gates out there that offer extensions to be able to fit any kind of space you really need them to. (Try securebaby.com) The downside it that by the time you buy the extensions you might be looking at around $200-300 with shipping. Do you know anyone who is handy with tools and wood? If you happen to know (or are willing to hire) someone who runs a handyman business they should be able to build you one for less. I haven't looked at how much the materials run theses days, but you should be able to throw something together pretty easily with some wooden lattice and some cheap pine to frame it with. |
1 Attachment(s) this is the one we use. pulled completely out as a 'fence' it would be really really long. amazon has it on right now for 59.99 with free shipping. additional double panels are 24.99 |
