1 year old yorkie meets 5 week old baby what will she do what can i expect
 

I have a female yorkie the she is very loving and very spoiled. she is the baby and that is what she is. I am picking up a new baby girls sunday and I wonder what I can expect if any one has been in this position let me know how it went for you please!

I can't believe you are bringing home a 5 week pup :confused: Is that correct???? If so, what's the reason??? 5 weeks is very very young to be taken away from her Momma...Most breeders keep them until 10 to 12 weeks old. I am really surprised :(

I am blown away too -- bringing home a 5 week old baby is such an injustice for that little one! So much bonding, learning, loving time taken away -- why???? I hold my tongue on the 10 weeks, calmly suggest it is too early at 8 weeks but 5 weeks -- that is just NOT RIGHT! Puppies, especially toy breeds like the Yorkie, should be given at least 12 weeks with their mother and siblings. Anything less is not doing right by those pups.

These are the pups that wind up in shelters because they never quite bond with the owner, continue to have behavior problems, are not easily trained and worst of all have a lot more health problems than the average pup.

I lost a mother dog a couple of days after birth of a litter. I still did not let those pups go before 12 weeks. I felt like it was even more important that they had that bonding time with each other and learned from the group dynamic before going off on their own.

Please reconsider! There has been a rash of breeders making an excuse they have a family emergency to tend to and cannot keep puppies for the full 12 weeks. If that is the case, shame on the breeder. But please don't take possession this early. Make the breeder do it right.

Just to clarify...this is a 5 week old puppy or human baby?

In most states it's illegal to even sell a puppy that young.

I'm assuming this is a Yorkie puppy... Wow... totally agree with the above posts! Don't believe for a second that she is weaned.. she probably doesn't have teeth yet!
Talk to your either uneducated or uncaring *gulp* breeder, and ask that the baby is weaned, socialized, vaccinated at least twice, wormed and Vet checked and that at 12 weeks you would be happy to pick her up. Be sure to get a good guarantee, because uncaring or uneducated is not the way to breed Yorkies.
Then... introduce the two in a neutral, not in your home. Let your older female get a smell or two of the new baby before you let them down together. Older adults usually don't like their face hair chewed on by a strange puppy and that seems to be the 1st thing they do.. so your older female will probably growl her down.. she may snap so be there at all times and never leave them alone.
It will take 2-3 weeks for them to settle in and your older female will be very, very jealous and most likely naughty in several ways, but it does get better.

Yes please reconsider bringing the puppy home so early. You may think that it is better for the puppy but it's not. The puppy needs to be with it's mother and littermates!
