Anyone use Angel Eyes or Tylan-40? I just noticed recently that the hair around Cassi's face has turned a reddish brown color due to her tearing. I'm thinking about purchasing either Angel Eyes or Tylan-40 to reduce the tearing but I heard that these two products contain small amount of antibiotics. I'm looking for feedback from others who have used this product for more than a 6 months. I've previously used distilled water and it didn't help much. I also heard that apple cider vinegar will help too, but is there a certain brand that I should get? Please feel free to suggest any other product that will reduce tearing. THANKS!!! :) |
I use Angel Eyes for my white Pommie but not for my Yorkies. I just comb out the gunk with a flea comb. Actually, I only have one Yorkie that tears. The other two don't have any problems except at certain times of the year which I attribute to allergies. My vet has them on Benedryl during that time. Cuts down on the tearing. As for it working, yes it works. Brand of food also affects tearing/staining. Snowboy was on Taste of the Wild for awhile when I was searching for a kibble for him. Angel Eyes didn't help during that time. It was horrible. Changed kibble and it was drastically reduced. I would also recommend that you do a 'search' here on YT on that subject. It has been brought up numerous times and there have been very informative responses. |

Same here I've been washing her face with a warm wash cloth and then I comb out the gunk with the flea comb. However, the hair on her face is a few shades darker than her head...it's like a brownish red color (so her face always looks dirty). I've even trimmed the hair around her eye on a weekly basis and that helps somewhat but she still has the tearing. It might be her food, but I'm really reluctant to change it again so soon since I just changed it not too long ago. She's currently getting a mix of Bil Jac and Natural Balance dry kibble with Wellness wet food. I'm going to eventually switch out Bil Jac and replace it with Solid Gold. I've done some search on Angel Eyes on this forum and it seems like there's been both negative and positive reviews in 2006-2007, but just wondering if there's any new updated info with the use of Angel Eyes. I'm going to try distill water again with vinegar and I heard that you can use hydrogen peroxide. I may also pick-up 'calm eye' as well, it's a solution that can be used to wash around their eyes or something like that. :) |
I was to to use Calm Eyes CalmCoat.com - Official Calm Coat Store: Eyes & Ears I have not ordered it yet but plan to. It seems easy and Everyone that was talking about it said they could see a result almost instantly! |
Yes, I did see in another thread about Calm Eye and it had good reviews from people that used it. However, I need something that will help decrease the tearing. Calm Eye you only use it on the hair around the eye. I just picked up a gallon of distilled water and will give it to her again. I also bought a bottle of distilled white vinegar and will add to the water, I heard that helps too with the tearing. I'm going to try this for a few weeks to see if it helps. I rather try something natural before resorting to giving her Angel Eye. I was also planning on picking up Calm Eye as well. :) |
